I really liked the point Robert Reich made in #10. If you could only read one thing from the article please read this:

Keep the faith. Do not give up on America. Remember, Trump won the popular vote by only 1.5 points. By any historical measure, this was a squeaker. In the House, the Republicans’ five-seat lead is the smallest since the Great Depression. In the Senate, Republicans lost half of 2024’s competitive Senate races, including in four states Trump won.

America has deep problems, to be sure. Which is why we can’t give up on it—or give up the fights for social justice, equal political rights, equal opportunity, and the rule of law. The forces of Trumpian repression and neofascism would like nothing better than for us to give up. Then they’d win it all. We cannot allow them to.

We will never give up.

And then I think the next most important thing is doing what you can to remove the pillars of support from Trump. He mentions boycotting Twitter and Tesla and other companies that support Trump like Fox News and boycotting advertisers. It's a really great idea to try!

Well then, time to shut down your Meta account if you still have one. Also do likewise for TikTok and Twitter.

I'm doing all I can to oppose this. I believe that if this is enacted it will create a bad precedence that may result in other countries adopting similar requirements. It must be firmly rejected now so strongly that no other country dares to try it. My goal is to convince hotel companies to oppose the policy because they will be hurt by less people traveling.

I urge everyone to contact hotel companies based in the US and say you won't be coming if this is enacted or say you're avoiding the US because of the Trump regime. Also in truth even if this doesn't get enacted I still strongly suggest you still avoid visiting the US. The more people who boycott the US the more companies will feel pressured to help defeat the Trump regime. Sadly in the US companies can have a lot of influence on politics although so far for the hotel companies I've checked it seems like they don't have much political spending with the exception of Robert Bigelow who's a right-wing megadonor. If you have no choice but to come to the US please consider avoiding anything he owns although judging from the Wikipedia article I think it's unlikely you'll encounter something he owns.

GB News recently did an "interview" (if you could call it that) with Donald Trump which was full of misinformation, lies and was very one sided.

I saw this petition going around and thought I would share it. I will note that with petitions they can help a little but I believe it's best to also contact whoever you're trying to petition yourself. The people in organizations you're protesting, or want change from need to "feel it". Please consider giving Ofcom a call and demand they investigate this horrible interview: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/what-we-do/contact-us you can mention that there's a petition that has already got loads of signatures.

I've been sending emails to hotel companies and urging them to oppose this. I urge you to contact your congresspeople and also companies in the travel, hospitality and tourism industry and demand they oppose this policy and more broadly ask them to stand up to Trump because he's causing people to rightfully boycott the US.

Also to everyone who is boycotting the US thank you so so much, I'm really grateful and as are so many Americans who also hate what the Trump regime is doing. The more people who boycott the more pressure it will put on companies to finally stand up against the Trump regime.

Musk says he wants to Abolish the EU. What a dumb idea, I say let's Abolish Elon Musk in Europe and everywhere.

You can help abolish Elon Musk. Here's how:

  • The lowest hanging fruit is if you have a Twitter account (I'm betting by now hardly anyone reading this does) but if you're a holdout it's already way overdue, time to stop using that account. Sadly Twitter recycles deleted usernames so the best solution is to park your account meaning make a post saying you're now on Bluesky, Mastodon or Lemmy and stop using Twitter. You can view any public tweet with nitter.net or xcancel.com just by replacing x.com with nitter.net or xcancel.com, everything else stays the same in the URL but of course it would be nice if you strip out any tracking parameters on the URL too. Also be sure to use these services when sharing a link to a Tweet instead of linking to Twitter directly.

  • Next try urging other people you know to make the switch. Have a friend on Twitter? Tell them to switch and offer to help them if they are not good with computers/phones. Know any companies, organizations, entities or groups still on Twitter? Contact them and ask them to switch to Bluesky or especially if they're more technically oriented consider mentioning Mastodon as well. It's surprisingly easy to do this, most companies have a contact form on their website or an email address, just give them a message, you never know, it might work. Also very important: urge all companies you can to avoid advertising spending on Twitter.

  • Next let's talk Tesla: again with this one I think pretty much everyone already knows not to buy a Tesla. So here's what you can do if you want to make an impact: we got to strip Musk of all subsidies. For this one I would be grateful for help identifying what subsidies Elon Musk receives in Europe but please contact every politician you can and demand that Musk doesn't receive any subsidies, incentives or breaks from your government. Tesla should not be eligible for incentives to purchase an EV. Another thing is if you know someone who is thinking about buying a Tesla tell them why it's a bad idea. For example Tesla cars are a deathtrap due to the electric handles. People have burned alive in a Tesla unable to escape. Also I've read reports Teslas have poor build quality. So even if the person you know doesn't care at all about politics they should still care about safety and build quality.

  • With Tesla the next step is to give Elon Musk a taste of his own medicine and see how much Musk really likes tariffs. Put tariffs or maybe even bans on Tesla products.

  • Another thing to do for Tesla is if they are applying for any permits or licenses to demand your government denies it. Fascists should not be able to setup shop in your country.

  • Lastly another idea is back, invest and support companies who have better products or potential to beat Musk's companies. With this one be sure you're not just trading one right-wing asshole for another. Make sure the company is more ethical. This is especially important for Starlink and SpaceX which are harder to boycott because they are b2b and a government contractor. However for government contractors you do have a lot of options to contact your politicians and demand they go with someone else for future contracts but note I'll admit there are some cases where right now SpaceX may be the only option unfortunately. Credits to all the SpaceX employees who were able to pull this off despite Musk's poor leadership.

Right, sometimes the actual articles aren't so bad. Just be sure to always use an ad-blocker whenever you visit those websites so you're not giving them your money or if you have ads enabled take note of who's advertising and contact them and ask them to stop advertising on NY Post or other right-wing rags. For websites using Google Adwords see: https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2454012 and for Facebook see: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/255483958155378. By the way I found out about this method from Stop Funding Hate. Maybe if you find this interesting you can follow https://bsky.app/profile/stopfundinghate.bsky.social. They are focused on the UK but it's a good model for how to do this kind of thing.

It seems you are right on this, I tried to see if other news papers reported on it and didn't find much except some that seem based on the NY Post article. It's actually surprising because usually it seems NY Post is not original reporting, they just add a right wing spin to stories already reported by more reputable news source.

The reason most other papers are not reporting on it is because it's just the opinion of someone who's not an elected official. He has no expertise on antisemtism or any credentials that I could find that make his opinion worthy of being reported (unless you count him being a CEO, I don't think that counts but for a right-wing audience that matters more). What Murdoch papers do is structure their stories in a way that results in people especially those who don't read closely to understand the story in a different way than if you read closely or to react in an emotional way. For example some people will glaze past the fact that it's her brother and think that it was Jessica Tisch who said that. In addition for people who already don't like Mamdani this story will stroke their ego and give them more confirmation bias and help enrich Murdoch a little bit through ad revenue.

By the way: they now have another article titled " NYPD boss Jessica Tisch apologizes to Mamdani after her brother calls him ‘enemy’ of Jewish people " https://archive.ph/vuLlj.

Why are you linking to NY Post? NY Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the same person who owns Fox News.

Please consider using the archive link https://archive.is/aAPSl and also install uBlock Origin to block advertisements.

I say we should aim for boycott domination. Time to cancel those streaming subscriptions. Actually though I will say if you must cancel only some of your stream subscriptions I would cancel Paramount and CBS as my first choice to cancel because it's owned David Ellison who is turning the companies he owns into right-wing propaganda machines.

Thank you so much for clarifying! Yes, now I understand it's a powerful thought like they can't stop me because I live in Sweden, I will keep protesting.

It reminds me of how many countries boycotted South Africa which helped end apartheid.

Right, I better not tell him about chat control.

We're all in this together in a way, what becomes normalized in one country risks coming for you one day. Do you notice how other countries have Trump copycats? In fact Trump has learned a lot from Hungary. So when something bad happens in one country we must stand against it no matter where we are because sooner or later if we don't it will come for us.
