Surely this is the correct answer.

GitLab is awesome and has good CI-CD

Afaik they are hosting their code on their own closed source internal system.

So it will no longer be Open-Source

According to their own documentation: https://github.com/truenas/scale-build

The TrueNAS build system previously hosted here has been moved to an internal infrastructure.

This doesn't sound like they are no longer using the build tool, they are simply not open-sourcing it anymore.

In a years time will the public be able to build trueNAS for themselves without developing their own build tools?

If not then the TrueNAS is no longer Open Source as people can't practically build it for themselves

(or verify that during the build some code wasn't injected)

Readme updated today:

This repository is no longer actively maintained.

The TrueNAS build system previously hosted here has been moved to an internal infrastructure. This transition was necessary to meet new security requirements, including support for Secure Boot and related platform integrity features that require tighter control over the build and signing pipeline.

No further updates, pull requests, or issues will be accepted. Existing content is preserved here for historical reference only.

Wondering if this is just the first step towards doing a minio in the future.

It was a phishing attack, Signal/WhatsApp wasn't hacked.

It's @draconic_neo@lemmy.dbzer0.com .

Care to help understand why I was banned from all those communities?

[–] Ek-Hou-Van-Braai@piefed.social 8 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Would like to at least know what I did to annoy them this much.

Atleast on Lemmy/PieFed we have communities like this we can call them out in, or use/create alternative communities on the same topic etc.

@draconic_neo@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Care to help us figure out why I was banned from these communities?

I'm not against AI, I use it a lot and it is useful, you just need to know what to use it for and to not trust it with anything serious.

But it's not all positive AI is bad in many ways for me the privacy risks are huge and something people should worry about.

Wild to ban me for saying something bad about AI

Checked my notifications to see this, I'm not even active in those communities.

The reason says ' Piefed Troll ' I'm not sure what that could be?

Can someone help me figure out why I was banned? I wasn't very active in the last week I can't imagine why I'd be banned, especially from these communities.

I don't want to be the guy to tell my boss I've bricked the F-35

If you're mad at both, great. But I see a lot of hypocrisy.

People getting angry at others using AI because of the environment, but then taking flights on holiday when they could take a train.

I've been running Immich for about 6 months now, and it's smooth and stable.

I've synced my camera roll to it and loving it.
Next step is to move the ~150gb of media on Google-Photos over.
How do I best do that?

I also have some other issues I'd like to address before or after the migration:

  1. I have a bunch of crap mixed into my Google photos, old WhatsApp images from meme groups I used to be in etc.
  2. Thousands of photos of Ex girlfriends mixed in (not exactly sure what to do about these)

Is there a way to siff through these efficiently and keep what I want? I have ~20k photos some dating back to 2006 so it feels like a mountain to climb.

A century ago, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania fought to free themselves from Russian rule—only to be conquered again by the Soviet Union during World War II. When the USSR collapsed in 1991, they emerged devastated but determined to rebuild on Western terms. Over the next three decades, they transformed from poor post-Soviet republics into some of Europe’s fastest-growing economies—embracing democracy, digitalization, and NATO protection. But after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the old fear returned. Now, the Baltic State s are pouring billions into defense, fortifying borders, and training citizens to fight. Having risen from oppression to prosperity once before, they know exactly what they stand to lose.

The investor who bet against the US housing market in the run-up to the 2007 financial crisis has now placed a significant wager on the collapse of the artificial intelligence (AI) boom.
