Please settle a debate. A kid in the womb is better off listening to stuff like cat in the hat so it can be read to it at bedtime? Or history of the world during the womb and read it later? in c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world

The content likely doesn't matter, but I read it helps the baby recognize the parent's voices (esp the Dad's, relative to the Mom), and it can also help them get a head start on recognizing the phenomes of your language.

In languages which use complex written characters (such as Chinese's logographs), is there an equivalent to English's "text speak" shorthand? in c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world

When gaming online, Chinese players sometimes type "99" or "9898", and I learned it means "go! go!" or "let's go!"
