I'm getting back to a project I started in 2024 but got to pause it (couldn't find anyone to help me). It's called SuperTux Smasher (formerly SuperTuxBattleMelee), a platform fighter featuring Tux and other mascots in the open source community

So far, we are three people working on it (the other two just joined very recently) and they even get to do a logo for the game. There's also a sample design of the main screen, and we're working on the menu and a stage

We're also looking for other potential people interested. Just note that it's likely going to be a pixel art game, so if you know how to use Aseprite or Libresprite, that would be awesome. Otherwise, you can go as composer or programmer. You'll just need to know how to use C++ and Squirrel (it's like Lua, but with a true object-oriented paradigm), the latter will be used for modding support

Hi, I miss playing video games. Which tittles do you recommend for integrated intel hd2500 graphics on linux? I have 16 gb ram and a descent i5 core processor. Do I have to use steam?

Also can i get a recommendation about using mame emulators. os is ubuntu

Update: SDL3/Wayland branch merged to main, GH release bin updated along with AUR packages.

There's no good standalone controller-driven on-screen keyboard on Linux. Steam's keyboard requires Steam running. Other virtual keyboards (Onboard, Florence) need a mouse pointer or are dead projects. I wanted something that takes D-pad and stick input directly, like a console, but can be launched independently of specific games or platforms.

So I built one written in Go with SDL3 and native Wayland layer-shell support. It works as a daemon with a configurable controller combo to toggle show/hide. AUR packages ( gamepad-osk-git , gamepad-osk-bin are updated to v2.

If you're on Wayland with a gamepad, I'd appreciate testers. Bug reports and PRs welcome. Wayland testers still welcome - especially GNOME (falls back to standard window, no layer-shell). Bug reports and PRs welcome.

Valve launched the latest upgrade to Proton Experimental, their staging ground for all the latest fixes for Windows games on Linux / SteamOS.

What is Proton Experimental? It's like a staging ground for faster updates to their Windows -> Linux compatibility layer for gaming. There's a bit less testing, and sometimes there's breakages. But eventually after a while all the updates get rolled out to a numbered Proton version like the latest stable version being Proton 10.0-4. For the April 10th Proton Experimental update they noted newly playable titles include:

Resident Evil (1996).
Resident Evil 2 (1998).
Dino Crisis.
Dino Crisis 2.
Universe Generator: The Golden Sword.

If we remove them from the survey, this leaves us with 75% of 5.33%, which is something around 3.96%.

I think the 5.33% is a bug, 3.96% sounds more realistic and in line with the growth linux was having before.

I think this is an error on the survey. Was anybody able to talk to Valve about this? I forgot which email to send this question to.

This problem started to happen recently (maybe 2 ~ 3 months ago).

When I'm playing any game slightly demanding (such as counter strike 2), my laptop will randomly start spinning its fans really fast and loudly and my fps drops from 100 to 70 ~ 60.

This only stops when I restart my laptop.

Does anybody know what might be causing it? This is my pacman -Qe | grep nvidia output:
