I have an Honor phone (not rooted) and I dislike the default launcher, so I installed a new one. It worked, but even after switching the default in the settings, the settings kept changing themselves after a while to return to the default launcher. This happened with both Foss-ify's Launcher and Kiss Launcher, so it doesn't seem to be due to a failure of the selected launcher.

Next thing I intended to try was force stop Honor Home, but I'm a bit worried about doing that, because what if the phone still starts refusing to launch the installed launcher but can't find the old one either and doesn't launch anything? Will I find myself unable to open any apps (including the settings to revert this) if that happens?

Does anybody have experience with the apps Neo Backup, DataBackup or ideally both?

I would like to know if there are any differences in terms of functionality, capability or reliability? Like, is there some kind of app data, that one can backup/restore while the other can't? Are there speed differences in the backup/restore process? etc.

I've searched the internet for some comparisons but couldn't find much.

For context: I want to transfer all my apps to a new phone. In the past, I've used Titanium Backup for this, but it doesn't seem to be very up-to-date anymore. Now, Neo Backup and Data Backup seem to be the most promising (besides maybe SwiftBackup, but that's not open source and only available through the Play Store, it seems). So now I could of course just use one app first, backup everything on my old phone, restore everything on the new one and then look through all the apps to see what worked and what didn't. But it would be easier if I could get a hint on which one might be more suitable for my needs :)

Also, if you would recommend to use another app instead, please tell me!

Thank you all!

Hey @rabble, would you and your team at Nos.social be willing to help us get a range of Nostr apps packaged for @fdroid?

https://forum.f-droid.org/t/f-droid-still-lacking-a-nostr-app-for-android/33016

Also, what's your take on the Zap Store as an app distribution method?

As you can see in the screenshot there are a couple of parts of the F-Droid application page in F-Droid that are in a different language. This isn't actually the first time I have seen this and is not limited to the F-Droid application. Currently it's just this one, but in the past I have had more apps than not displaying some or all of their content in a different language despite my phone being configured for English.

I've been using Tusky for browsing mastodon for a while and really enjoyed its experience. But then they moved the boost button all the way down to the bottom of the screen and that's just too much traveling for my thumb. What used to be a seamless experience has been dragged out, and enlarged to take up a quarter of the screen.

I tried switching to Husky for a few days but its missing some key functions I like about Tusky, like being able to follow and block hashtags, and change "load more" behavior to open up instead of down. It seems to be more a Plemora thing anyway.

I don't have the skills to fork Tusky, so I'm wondering if there's a way to basically undo an update. How do I get back to an earlier version?

I remember some time ago installing an app that allowed me to film in the background whilst having another app open on top. I believe this was from f-droid. I actually have a legitimate use for this.

Could someone please suggest its name if they know, either from f-droid or a decent (trustworthy) app from the play store please.
