Trying again because reddit filters, let's see if I get it right this time.

After months of scraping I finally finished downloading almost every single degruyter book to which I have access, which are many. And so I created a torrent.

Neither the files nor the series are renamed. They all bear the original filenaming which is much better since it can easily be keyed to the book's unique page.

Note: this torrent includes only the abovementioned degruyter imprints. In the upcoming weeks I will create a second torrent, with the degruyter partner publishers: about 100k books from these publishers

This endeavour would have not been possible were not for all the people that granted me academic access, wrote scripts for me, helped me ensure the integrity of the files, and so on. Sadly many files, especially epubs, are corrupted or downright missing at the source. There are also some dupes that, being part of multiple series and subseries, were downloaded twice. Total torrent size is about 2tb.

I did not waste months so I could jerkoff on the big numbah, therefore I want the files to be shared and reshared as much as possible in order to grant indirect academic access to all those students (me being one) whose universities cannot afford degruyter subscriptions.

Last note: all the files are retail untouched (according to BIB standards, if anyone here is a member). So if some epub has shitty formatting blame the publisher.

I just set up my first Plex server and found that I have to convert all of my totally legally obtained MKVs to MP4s to run on Plex.

Right now I'm encoding them with HandBrake and it's taking ~30 mins per file and using 100% of my CPUs capacity (running around 80 degrees C).

Is this how most of you guys do it? or am I missing something? I'm concerned about hurting the lifespan of my CPU. Would using my GPU to encode be a better option?

It's at least in cs.rin.ru, including Linux version.

I downloaded the season packs from RARBG (by BTN, ION10 and DEMAND) but I don't like the quality of the torrents.

Earlier seasons do not have subtitles. Some of the later ones that do have them are downloaded from addic7ed rather than ripped from source. Moreover the volume level is really low across the board.

Anyone knows any better quality torrents on public trackers? Direct download will do too.

I came across this site when z-library's clearnet domain was taken down and have been using it regularly since then because of how easy it is. I haven't seen anyone talking about it here so I thought I'd share.

I just found out about it the other day. Its literally p2p file sharing. You can let people visit designated directories on your local file system and go visit theirs. Its fast and personable. They even have an AOL IM thing going on. I found out about it because they've got a lot of music and its relatively difficult to find good music torrents. I thought it was basically transmission or another torrent client, but its totally different. Linux Mint has the FOSS client Nicotine+ in their repository. The whole process was quick and easy. Find me there under the same user name.

I wanted to share the DLCs + DLC unlocker for Europa Universalis IV for Linux, basically so that if you own the base game on steam you can drop the files in the installation path and BAM you now have all the DLCs, however I'm not sure what is the "standard" way to do this. Do I just upload to MEGA, Zippyshare or something like that and then post the link here?

So a friend has managed to get a Karagara account, for those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically the holy grail of art cinema, where you can get the weirdest and obscurest of films you could ever imagine. So I looked on USAGM website to see what else they fund, they also fund Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Middle East Broadcasting Network and Open Technology Fund. I never heard of the last few, so I check Tech Fund. I see stuff about supplying internet to areas (I presume giving technology to armed insurgents or something) and other stuff. I look to see who These People are funding, and now I see they fund a shit load of tech projects, donating thousands upon thousands of dollars to each project. One of them is a Tor Browser. This is kinda weird because Tor Browsers market themselves as being more subtle with your info and stuff, yet they are being actively funded by the US Government’s Media Branch. What do you guys think?
