8-bit series – Ferocious Forest | Group Buy open now

Some things are small enough that you assume there's nothing to see. Then you look closer, and you can't stop.

Ferocious Forest is four worlds cast in resin - Twilight Citadel, Jungle Vanguard, Scorched Sands, Oceanic Outpost. Each one a different terrain, each one full of characters small enough to miss on first glance. A fox stands guard at a moss-covered archway for reasons that belong to it alone. A ninja moves through lava at the pace of someone who has decided it isn't a problem. A white dragon sits in the high canopy, wings folded, not hiding, just not explaining itself.

Eight sizes. Every cap handmade through resin casting and multilayer coloring. Real shots throughout - nothing is rendered, nothing is printed.

Group Buy closes June 4 - often earlier once we reach our number. Order any** five keycaps and a Monochrome **cap ships

Specs: • Switches: Brain Workshop B1 • Keycaps: ZenithKey FarSide-CIV. • Plate: FR4

The sound is super clean and deep — way better than I expected from an all-aluminum board.

Anyone else still daily driving their Matrix boards?

This is an 80s Olivetti I found in a thrift store and purchased for 10€. Its fully functioning and a pure joy to write on. Just listen to that daisywheel slapping that paper.

Hello! I've recently began my rabbit-hole-into-mechanical-keyboard world* and I got an Epomaker LUMA 100. I didn't like the switches that came with it, so I got a pack of gateron ks33 banana & ks33 red. Turns out the pins on these don't fit (left pin is lower than the right). So, any recommendations? Office has open floorplan so I'm hoping for as quiet as possible while still being able to feel the keys.

*I could write a novel here but won't haha. I've been using a Logitech k850 for years but wished they made a Bluetooth backlit one.

This may be a slightly off topic rant…

My wife has been watching Mad Men and I’ll watch it too if I’m in the room. One thing that continues to strike me over and over is how satisfying all the switches and car doors and buttons are. There is a scene is season two where Draper sits at his desk at home and switches on a lamp. The sound it makes and the amount of travel his finger has while punching in the switch is so satisfying. A real ca-chunk.

Every time some closes a car door or hangs up a phone the sound and the look of it is so… just satisfying. It reminds me of when I replaced all the devices in a home I used to own. I used 20amp motor rated switches on all the lights switches because I just love the hard tactile feel and sound they make. Like when that switch closes, you KNOW it’s closed. You don’t need to guess.

Everything is a god damn touch screen now. I miss buttons. Anyway, this is why I like mechanical keyboards.

Hey Fediverse,

Our team wanted to share a hardware project we've been pouring our hearts into. We love the ergonomics of split keyboards, but we were always frustrated by the messy TRRS bridge cables and the bulky plastic/3D-printed cases that usually come with wireless builds.

So, we spent the last few months developing our own solution: Elytra.

The Specs & Philosophy:

100% Truly Wireless: Powered by ZMK. No wires to the PC, and absolutely zero cables between the halves. Just a perfectly clean desk.

Ultralight CNC Aluminum: We applied a biomimetic cutout design on the underside. It gives you the premium feel of a full-metal custom board, but the entire chassis weighs only 420g.

Designed for Longevity: We know this community values hardware that lasts. The design is modular and repair-friendly, making it easy to open up, maintain, or tweak over time.

We just opened our site for early pre-orders. Since the Fediverse has some of the most knowledgeable hardware geeks around, we'd love to get your raw feedback on the layout, the industrial design, or any ZMK configuration tips!

I took a break from mechanical keyboards because I had a keyboard I was happy with. Now I need another for a second desk and it seems like all the keyboards people recommend now are fully pre-built.

This doesn't make sense to me, I really like the ability to chose my switches and keycaps (especially my keycaps). I don't see why you would get a keyboard that already has these when the first thing your going to do is replace them.

Heya,

I saw someone else post their KiCAD design here for review. Now I would like to ask what improvements could be done with mine. I read a lot of documentation and followed many a YT tutorial the past two weeks and I am by no means experienced with PCBs or even many aspects of microelectronics aside from PC building.

I know that the data line from the USB C connector could wind up being a source of trouble because of the lengths. Is there anything here I could do?

I can only upload single images for posts, so I'll try putting another one in the comments that shows the generalized layout of the right keyboard.

Peace and love

  • Keycap sizes: 1u
  • 15 designs
  • Payment: PP / CC
  • Price at start: $49

Hi u/everyone

This is a mini group buy open for only 48 hours. Shipping starts after 40 business days. The Patisserie Tales is a small, fully handmade artisan keycap series inspired by the soft nostalgia of old neighborhood bakeries, real desserts, real memories, never mass-produced. Each keycap is individually hand-cast in resin, then colored layer by layer, slowly and with intention.

For collectors who value craft and story, we’re opening a short two day mini group-buy. Once it closes, the design will not be reproduced. As a small thank you to collectors, every purchased keycap includes one random resin display plate, selected from four designs. Thoughtfully made, genuinely limited, and quietly special.-

So I need some recommendations. I have two 75% boards with gatearon reds and cherry mx blues. I really like these keyboards, but they are obviously not quiet. My issue arises because my desk shares a wall with my daughter’s bedroom, so while she is napping or asleep I am stuck using a Logitech G213. The G213 is much quieter but not as fun.

So my humble request is this: can anyone recommend a 100% (or any percent that has all the keys in smaller form factor) that is as close to absolutely silent as possible? I would prefer a good tactile feel but it’s not required and I’m looking into magnetic switches because those look cool too. I like that you can program them to behave like analog inputs. Also I’m on Ubuntu Linux (fuck you Microsoft) if that is important.

Thanks in advance if you have any ideas for me.

I hope this is not against the rules - I tried with multiple frontends to find the list of rules but failed.

I'm trying to find the right keyboard and have not had all that much luck using aggregators like keeb-finder or mechanicalkeyboards.com. I'm hoping someone would be willing to make a recommendation based on these criteria:

  • 100%, maybe a few less keys but the number pad is necessary. 100+% is ok
  • tactile switches
  • USB passthrough for the mouse or whatever else
  • audio passthrough with audio out jack and mic in jack. I think this is the limiting feature, seems to be phased out except by brands like logitech and corsair.
  • standard ergonomic design
  • case material is not important nor is the key material really

Thanks for reading!

hi guys do you know if I by any chance could add my Keychron V1 knob to my K4 HE keyboard? I saw a mod for another keyboard (don't know where, maybe github?) with some rotary encoder, but idk if it works with the K4 HE.

also, can I use the web app offline somehow? I don't see where they have open sourced it, if they actually do. I can configure some settings through VIA but not the HE switch depth. How do I do that?

Hello! I just received my beautiful Neo60 Core. It's my first 60% keyboard so I hoped that the Fn-Key can compensate the "missing" keys. But I can't really find any documentation on how to use the Fn-Key on the Neo60 Core.

I was only able to use F1-F12 with the combination of Fn-(1-ß) but I really want to use and need the ArrowKeys. I tried Fn + WASD but because Fn+W sets the Neo60 Core to Bluetooth mode this wont work. Even Fn+IJKL wont work either. Does the Neo60 Core doesn't offer such functionality out of the box? Do I really have to use an external Software to make this possible?

Thank you!

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/38669987

I accidentally soldered a switch on crooked. I got the switch off the board but i'm having trouble cleaning out the holes so i can put a new switch in.

Can this switch footprint be saved after being clogged with solder and melted a little, or should i try to get the other switches off and start over on a new board?

And what's the best way to desolder these switches if i have to remove the rest?

I used the company's 3d printer to make a shell for the keyboard! This shape is suitable and can also serve as a hand rest for the keyboard, allowing my hands to type more relaxed.!
