Can someone fill me in on this “Tesseract” thing? I know what it is regarding geometry & spacetime & whatnot, but how is it related to Lemmy?
Tesseract is a Lemmy fork that appears to have blocked some users and communities for being visible there. Mostly leftist ones.
Small correction tesseract is a front-end for Lemmy not a fork, essentually it's juste a way to browse Lemmy, it also blocked a trans instance and a Yuri community so the developper is a transphobe and a homophobe
i block trans comunities and yuri communities all the time. as well as furry porn that is super common here.
should i be a part of communities I have no interested in? didn't know I was obligated to look at or comment on posts about trans folk, yuri, and furries.
The difference is that you block those community because you're not interested in them. In the case of a frontend, am I supposed to believe everyone who used it was uninterested in those topics, probably not, so why did the developer block them
because they want a front end that is more palatable to the average person?

Except that's bot what those communities are, yuri and wholesome yuri are both sfw communities and Lemmy.blahaj.zone is about trans people, nothing sexual

You sure you're thinking of the same thing cause you can take a look right now at both the communities and the instance and will find very little sexual content
i'm thinking of how many communities i had to block everytime i hit all until my block list was dozens long before I stopped seeing weird and gross crap from fetishists.

Ive blocked a fuckton of coms im not interested in, too. The point is that the front-end blocked those coms and users without making that known. You can block whoever you want; you shouldnt develop software that secretely blocks who you want from other people.

I don't know what you're conflating that with but no, yuri is a term from Japanese media for lesbian romance, while yaoi is the gay equivalent.
They are likely thinking of "Loli," which isn't even a Japanese term afaik; it's short for "Lolita" which is a book about a dude who victimizes and rapes a 12 year old.

Leftist and fascist are opposites. Fascism is a right-wing ideology.
You may be looking for the term authoritarian, or totalitarian. Many people refer to them as “tankies” on the left, although as a term that’s become as vague as “woke” for most people using it. Also followers of Trotsky ideology (or “trots”) - tend to behave in divisive ways and believe in hardline authoritarianism (workers only obey the party but have no voice). Not sure how many of them exist on .ml but as a large leftist safe space on the internet I wouldn’t be surprised to find some there.
They support Putin's Russia, let's not pretend they're leftists. They're authoritarians and like auth regimes regardless of political leaning, as long as they're not western. So they support fascism too.
I don’t really hang out on/with .ml very much (mostly just my own browsing habits) but my understanding is that they’re not a monolith.
Again, not surprised to find Trots and (actual, not libscolding) tankies there - but just like MAGA don’t speak for all of America, and Al Queda doesn’t speak for all Muslims, they don’t represent “the left” as a whole.
