The art shown in the post is not ai, the guy who made it even did videos about the workflow to model this stuff.

This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.

It is not art. It has no value. The sole thing it has is convenience for the one that generates it.
No skill, no talent, no humanity. Nothing of value.
Those last two lines make for great lyrics. Might steal 'em. 😉
Steal away man. Any bit of human inspiraten is a good thing!
But you have to post it when you record it... Please.
Why would you pay for them when you can just generate them yourself for cheaper?
Do you mean to tell me that Prompt Engineer isn't a real job??
It was, but they lost their jobs to AI automation.
Seriously, I have been screwing around with AI for coding for 12 months now. The prompts I had to give 12 months ago to make the LLM generate decent code are mostly un-necessary now, the models have learned to do those things for themselves, so I am now prompting for the less-obvious stuff. Whatever they're missing, that's what you need to be prompting.
There are people getting paid for it. So I guess it actually is at least for now.
Do you mean to tell me that vibe-writing prompts is an equivalent to an engineering degree??
I'll just vibe write one broseph, it's the wave of the f̵u̶t̶u̸r̶e̷, g̴̘̖͆ę̶̮͊t̴̢̼͗̎ o̷̼̭̰̍ṉ̸̣̗͛̔ b̴͓͚͗̈́o̵̙͉̎ä̴̲̯́̇r̸͕̽̈d̶̦̫̍̃ o̶̠͗̑̚r̸̙͖̈́ g̷̡̻̠̲͔̖̜̠̣͓̉̈́̎͆͛̀͒̽͑ȩ̴͔̞͕͑̀̓͗̋͑̈̾̌̓̕t̸̞̥̲̟̲̬̀̐ l̷̞̮̓͐̐̐̔́́̽̏̅͋̄͛̚e̶͉̲̼̘̹̒̐̉͐̓̽̔̅̒̿̽̀̾̊̀f̵̢̧̨̨̛̬̤̗̻̟̱̯̳̞̳̝͎͔̱͕̲͓̰͉͕̭͐͊̆̒̿̊͗͑̈́́̈́̀̀̂̂̄͘ͅt̴̢̧̥͍̼͙̙̝̫̹̙͚̭̱̯̜̳͕̜̼͍̆̔̎̄̂̏̌̈́͗̊͊̋͐͆̃̕͝ b̴̧̧̢̡̢̢͕͖̞̫̤̹͉̲̬̟̗̝̞͓͕̺͈̫̱̰͇͎͙͎̖̜͙̦͎̖̥͇̘̹̦͇̦͕̹͎͓̻͇̳̖̰̬̞͕̯̖͖̼̰̹́̈́̾́͗͐̅͌̀̎͛͒̐̔̎̆͗̽̒̒͒̈̀͊͗́̌͂͛͑̄͐̄̐͛̀̏̀̽̇͛̍̽̽̚͝͠͝e̶̢̡̛̛̞̯̦͈͓͙̳̗̜̤͍̜͖͍̩͊̌͑̏̇̀̈́́̏̿͂̈́̈́̽̈́̀̇͂̉̾̓̑͛͒̈̇͆̽̌̃̅̉̀̾̇̐͊̈́̊̀̇̆̚̚͜͝͠h̸̡̢̢̨̨̛̹̠̳͈͙̙̗̮̫̣̦̠̲͇̰̺̘͖͇̰̯͖̺͍̬̙̠͕̱̗̙̹̘̼̜̙͚̦̥̪͍̲̻̼̦̖͍͔̬̮̰͈̳̦͖̬̻̓̐̾̅͋̂͛͐̓̍́̔̌̃̍̌͆͒̍̃͐̇͑̃́́́͌̆͗̊̀̐̃̂̈́̎͌̾̇́́̊͑̒̔̃̓̀̋͌̚̕͜͜͠͠͠͠͠͠͠͠ͅͅị̷̧̡̙̺̟̰̬͕͔̥̥͈̲͚̠̙̗͍̯̠͖̲̞͔͎̬̮͍̝͕̐́͛̈́͗͐̀̑͗͐̿̍̈͗̏̀̇̆͛̄̍̃̎̃͆̀͑͗̈́͆͛̏̆͑̓̃̀̂̄̚͘̕̕̚͘͜͝ͅn̵̨̧̢̢̢̛̛̛̛̛̻͔̩̯̭͚̯̲͙̤͔̟̫̗̪̥̯̲̲̝̰̮͓͓̦̱͓̤̮̖̥͇͖͕̄̂̑̌̿̃̎̎̌̌̑͌̾͒̑̽̀͗͛͆̀̍̾̽̐̍̍̆̂̃͌̽̄́̾͗̃͛̆͘͘̚͜͝͝͝͝ͅͅd̴̨̧̨̡̢̨̨̳̱̣͎͍̯̯̺̼̜͖̠̩̞̫̭͉͈͕̞̺͔̦̰̼̖͖̰̼͍̟͎̫͉̣̙̮͉̭̹̰̞̈́͆̂̅͒̽̌͛͌̈̏̍̿͐͋̎̓̒̒̆̄̕̕͝͠͠͠ͅ
Just wanted to say I noticed and appreciate the effort to have what looks like two stages of zalgo there (unless there's a generator out there that will auto-increase it over the string, in which case........ link? hehe)
I searched for one, either it's not out there (yet) or my searching sucks.
Also it's increased in each word after the start, just not dramatically at first.
I'm going to guess if you expressed what you want to a decent LLM, it could generate it for you to copy-paste.
Hard pass. This was just a few more copy pastes, the day I can't do that I don't belong on the internet at all.
Y'know, I hadn't noticed "future" at first, and for my on desktop, it does reach a limit (re: the screenshot another user made). Hah, so even more kudos for the effort <3
Little makes me happier than a silly internet meme like that :)
This is the central problem with AI art
Also there are subscription models to access a library of high quality models for much cheaper than AI could generate each individual one. Also there are many very talented 3D artists out there who can create unique models of a much higher quality than AI can at the moment.
Once again LLMs aren‘t really solving any problems here. They‘re only trying to disrupt with no benefit for society or the profession.
Basically digital dropshipping.
Because they probably claim they're hand made models so you pay for skill when you're getting mass market.
In other words: a scam. That's simply what most stuff that use ai are, one way or another
As a Wolverine fan, the amount of "art" out there where he has 4 claws on each hand is infuriating.
Classic fence post problem
Last time I was on Thingiverse browsing, someone had spent the past day uploading hundreds of models of women squatting. Just page after page. I gave up and went somewhere else. Who the fuck thinks we want to see this
As someone who has been deep into 3d printing for a long time, even selling prints that I bought licenses for, there are a LOT of people who want exactly that.
I don't not want to see women squatting, but will pass on Ai generated models of that though thanks.
Yeah, squatting is great! Fuck landlords!
AI really shows how broken and non-existant moderation is on these "platforms".
printables has a "no ai" and a "no politics" checkbox. I almost never see AI or political prints with that turned on
Clankers
My wife has been selling handmade crocheted stuff on Etsy for a while and I am constantly catching her going through listings and getting infuriated about designs that look awesome in the photos but are unrealistic or impossible in execution, and yet people keep buying them
I used to make fine silver chains by hand and sell them on Etsy, and did quite well with it. Then it got flooded with drop shippers despite that being against terms of service. But you could see the biggest and most successful jewellery sellers all had identical products and if you search their product titles on Ali express or Temu it was the first result. I went from 5-10 sales which was a couple grand a month to zero the instant they stopped policing it.
I can only imagine how bad it is now with ai. I tried to browse Etsy for something recently and there was literally pages of ai slop. I don't think I saw a single real product.
I bought a 50 € "silver ring" that was made out of copper on Etsy. After it started changing it's color and painting my finger black i searched for it on Ali and found it for 1,10 € there.
I couldn't revive the 5 Star rating i gave the shop, nor did they or Etsy get back to me after inquiering. After that i stopped using Etsy completly.
Yep. Etsy stopped caring completely when they realised how much revenue drop shippers were bringing in. There was no way I could compete with silver plated copper from China with personalised engraving for $15 when the chains took 8+ hours to make and were made with pure silver. This was back when silver was $30/ounce. Now it's $91. And the chains were 2-3 ounces by the time I was done.
How long was it? Most banks let you do a credit card charge back for at least a year after purchase.
This is where a challenger could easily dethrone etsy, taking away their first mover advantage by creating a maker's marketplace with a strict no-AI policy and heavy human moderation.
Etsy is flooded with slop, it's awful. If you search something like "crochet bracelet patterns" you will get pages and pages of straight slop: https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=crochet+bracelet+patterns
It's the exact same problem you run into on any open or semi-open market but the outcome for anything with a good user review system will be the same. Look at Steam where asset flips and low quality clones flooded the store but 99% of them barely get a handful of sales if any. Instead all the money goes towards the games with actual fun content. People recognize low quality and low effort slop and AI reeks of it.
The only thing flooding markets with slop does is it makes it harder for the small gems to get discovered. Some of them still will, they happen to catch the eye of just the right person and spread through word of mouth, and the big companies will just shovel heaps of money into advertising, but it makes life miserable for the little guy trying to make a name for themselves.
How about: AI Generated 3D models flood the free / open source repositories, anything wrong with that?
But I want to make money with my lack of creative skills!
