I don't like being gaslit. Even if you just write some crazy nonsense, or you wrote something no one likes. Maybe you really should not have written that. It should be stored locally. If you want it.

Why would it get deleted? You mean by mods?

I think your client could theoretically back up all your posts locally. Should be easy to develop a client that does that. But it's better to get in the habit to store your writings locally anyways. In a notes app or something.

Doesn’t hosting your own instance of Lemmy/Mastadon/fedi* solve that problem? As far as I know nothing is deleted that you post/commemt in that scenario or are you referring to the internet at large? If the latter yah, good luck with that.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Yes that would in theory do it

[–] artifex@piefed.zip 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you’re being fediverse-specific you could set up your own instance, federate with everything, and have it save only the content you’ve interacted with. It’s a pretty narrow archive so it wouldn’t be too resource intensive. And if you’re techy it wouldn’t be too hard* to write a native activitypub client that did only this if you were active on eg lemmy and mastodon and pixelfed

you've made it sound it difficult, or perhaps you meant prurient?

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My crazy nonsense is usually more whimsical and silly than problematic, but that's probably still good advice.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

well same but why is everyone being so nice to me?

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 1 points 2 days ago

They... like lighthearted shenanigans?

Idk about your workflow... Maybe you'd like some browser extension like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/form-history-control/ ?
That one seems to store everything you ever type on the internet.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My workflow on this platform is occasionally posting something serious and well, often, shitposting. I'm not using Firefox with addons. Usually android apps like voyager or summit.

If you look at my account now, it's just me being crude and weird. But I did have a couple salient comments about topical issues. I posted links and articles. Where did they go?

[–] CameronDev@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They went here: https://sopuli.xyz/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&userId=12064007

At a glance, you've been a little less than salient...

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fair enough, but that didn't happen today or within the last month. Not fighting with you, friend, it's fine

[–] CameronDev@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At least according to the modlog, you haven't had anything moderated today or the last few days. Did you post on a different account? Tampering with the modlog is pretty frowned upon, so admins generally don't do it unless its something illegal, which also would have caught you a ban.

Your account has plenty of comments from the last day, how sure are you that something has been deleted?

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i had commented on Alex and Eugene Vindman, extremely topical to Ukraine and Trump, and political in the U.S. right now, and prior to that i reposted a long article about something but not anything wild. cant remember. Best guess is the Vindman topic pissed off someone, as an election just kicked off where eugene vindman won a primary in virginia

[–] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Weird.

It seems Summit indeed has some feature like this. There's some "Local tracking events". There's "Your Actions" close to the bottom of the menu. If I scroll to the second tab "Completed actions", that pretty much looks like a local copy of every comment and post I sent out. So maybe what you're looking for is already implemented?

I don't have Voyager installed but maybe that's worth searching through the settings as well.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

best i can reply is i recommend using a desktop, you know why

[–] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Sry, I don't know if we're talking past each other?! You said you were using Summit or Voyager and I went through the settings of Summit. If you're now(?) using a desktop computer, you'd obviously need to tackle it in some other way. Like the browser extension I mentioned earlier?!

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

o friend i dont fucking know, but i appreciate you

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If you use mastodon and post to the threadiverse by mentioning the community, you can get this property.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

back to you on that, which community?

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I mean, if you have a masto account, like on mastodon.social or lgbtqia.space or wherever, you can post from that account to any community on the threadiverse (lemmy, piefed, mbin) by mentioning it in your post. So, for instance, you could include at-nwsl-at-lemmy.world (using the @ character instead of at-) in a mastodon post, and the resulting post would remain on your mastodon timeline, even if I moderated it from my NWSL community. If you want to see examples, a lot of the serious fediverse knowers post like this to !fediverse@fedia.io

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

if it's really hinging on a masto account, i'll work on that

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 1 points 2 days ago

You might be able to do the same from misskey or sharkey, but don't quote me on that

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

yeah i write some nonsense on the reg but i celebrate pride and love

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

i was not out to ruffle feathers. whom did i aggravate?

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're free to save anything locally, aren't you?

I dunno about phones, but I use the SingleFile extension for LibreWolf. It saves a website page complete in one html file, including images.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'm saying the software should do that

Edit;

Things disappear after I have posted. Sure, it's federated! So save it somewhere locally for a bit so I don't feel insane about whether it even happened?

[–] aaaa@piefed.world 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Nothing stops you from saving things you post if this is a problem for you

Most of us don't feel gaslit just because our post was deleted. We simply recognize that some mod didn't want that content, for either a good reason or a bad one
