Smart glasses equipped with cameras, microphones, and AI are a creeping privacy and security nightmare, prompting backlash.

And rightfully so.

Sounds like a skill issue have you tried not being a prick. Cause damned near everytime I hear the shit you're spouting it turns out that the issue is a cuntish personality, which I may be throwing rocks in a glass house with my blood soaked sandpaper of personality but it always does just come down to dickheads looking for shit to be pissy about.

Also your over and incorrect use of punctuation makes me think you're an ancient involent, which frankly speaking is fitting.

You kinda proved my point. Instead of addressing the argument, you went straight to insults. Thats usually what people do when they don't have a counterargument. America has a real crisis of trust.

Confidence in institutions, the media, corporations, government, and even each other has dropped for years. In a low trust society, people create records to protect themselves. Recording glasses aren't about wanting a surveillance state. They're about having an objective record when accusations fly or context gets lost.

If people acted with a little more maturidiscourse. (Hint hint idiot), these would be a lot less neccessary. They're basically the wearable version of a dashcam.

Adding on to that.

You come across as naive and inexperienced....as such, you should know the world is full of people who lie, scam, extort, and make false accusations.

America's trust crisis didn't appear out of nowhere. Enron, Madoff, Wells Fargo, bricks& minifigs and countless everyday scams taught people to protect themselves. Recording glasses aren't about paranoia; they're a wearable dashcam. Pretending there's no value in an objective record is a pretty sheltered view of the real world.

I have to agree. I have spent nearly 39 years on this earth and I've never had problems with outrage and/or targeted character assassination. That sounds like a problem for cunts.

[–] Nomorereddit@lemmy.today 1 points 7 hours ago

Glad you've never experienced it. But its pretty cunty to state you are perfecr and everyone else should be too.

Even if you are perfect, That doesn't mean these things arent real. I've never been in a serious car crash either, but I still wear a seatbelt. The rest of us can see examples every day, from the Depp–Heard case to countless public accusations and smear campaigns. Recording devices exist for the rare moments when someone lies or tries to ruin your reputation, not for the thousands of interactions that go just fine.

It can still happen through bad actors... I have a friend who was dumped by someone a few years ago, but to make themselves fell better they spread false rumors about my friend.

However, spy/pervert glasses wouldn't have been usefull. You can't prove you didn't do something with recording...

[–] Nomorereddit@lemmy.today 1 points 8 hours ago

Maybe, maybe not. But when someone is doing character assassinations out of spite you want all cards you have to defend yourself.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah perv glasses ain't gonna do jack shit for most types of character assassinations, maybe it could help with a scuffle or something but I find that the best thing to do in that situation is to come across as bored and vaguely irritated while giving your side to the cops in the aftermath. Seriously cops love it when you give dry but pissy explanations since it's easy to write down.

[–] Nomorereddit@lemmy.today 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

See, you're already walking back your comments. To admit that there are times when it could be warranted. Glad you are growing, but I'll say right now, I don't like you and your character sucks. Therefore you are bow a victim of character assassination.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago

Piss off, I said best case not good case. Also should I care if ya think my character is ass? I know what I am and it works out well for me. Also please do try to assassinate my character properly it'd be funny, especially since I'm pretty sure at least one mod somewhere on lemmy world has me marked as being problematic.

Now usually I'd tell you to go die via some horrid historical reference but frankly I think it'd go over your head. So instead I shall tell thee to go feed the Joshua Trees, they hunger.
