I would be wary of wearing anything that can fold me into a briefcase.

This seems just as toyish as did dinnerplate sized drones 2y ago. So chances are I'm wrong again.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 9 points 7 hours ago

Ok, but can I still fit all my tps reports and a granola bar in there with this?

Why this prototype combat rig could help Army soldiers fight a possible war with China

The subcaption of the video was a bit alarming. So is the US planning this as well?

[–] bluGill@fedia.io 12 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

China has been planing to reunite with Taiwan for decades, and they are clearly building a military capable of that. The US has committed to protecting Taiwan. That is the US has been planning war with china since not long after WWII. It hasn't happened yet, it may never happen, but it is planned for and one of the more likely wars the US could get involved with.

If your country doesn't have a plan to go to war with every other country in the world (separately) your military leaders are incompetent. Most counties far away are very low risk and so the plans don't have to be well thought out, but you should have at least the start of a plan. The more likely war is the better you plans should be.

Si vis pacem, para bellum.

If you look weak, you're a target. The only way to have peace is to look strong.

I am getting all the more confident that China will win that war. The US has been performing lousy over the past few seasons of War, and the new US management and owners instill anything but confidence in the team.

If your country has a plan to go to war with every other country in the world and a warmonger gets elected then one of those plans will be implemented regardless of whether its justified. See: Iraq, Iran

The next fascist that gets elected will probably start a war with China regardless of the Taiwan situation.

Trump went to war without a plan, the lack of plans didn't stop him

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Naw, these plans were sitting around for a long time. Trump just picked them up and ran with them, even though a lot of stuff is out-of-date. The biggest clue is the the girl's school bombing, it was once part of an IRGC compound ten-ish years ago.

No he didn't follow a plan. The plans said things like Iran would counter attack and try to close the strait. Trump and his team didn't even look at the plans. They went with Netanyahu's suggestion

The biggest clue to that bombing is them admitting they asked AI for targets and it delivered outdated info

Outdated info from where?

Seems to me like it would have come from plans drawn up 10+ years ago about where to target.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

They didn't even evacuate their bases in advance! They didn't even install air defenses at them! They did nothing whatsoever to prepare! They just assumed instant success!

I genuinely don't know why you're giving them the benefit of the doubt.

None of us here knows the truth, and I would posit that it's just as likely, if not more likely, that that school was targeted intentionally, as it was used for the children of IRGC officers.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 hours ago

The US has been working on stuff like this for decades.

[–] worhui@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Obviously not true, do you think anything the US does is planned?

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

The youtube guy (penguinz0) or something like that tested one of these.I for one was underwhelmed.

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 12 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

You know, I really respect his approach. Most of what he talks about is stupid internet drama, but then he’ll turn around and force his impressionable audience into pro-Palestine, anti-Epstein, anti-Christian nationalism, class conscious while staying goofy to maintain engagement.

He’s also transparent.

People like him give me a semblance of hope for the future generations. I would obviously prefer the younger generation to read up on poli-sci but that’s a big ask for the brain rot era.

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Yep, same. He seems to have no real agenda, just a dude with a huge audience saying what he thinks about whatever he feels like talking about, and he does it in a fairly entertaining manner.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 hours ago

Charlie comes out with some poor takes sometimes, but I think he’s just misinformed and not malicious, which I can’t say about Assmold or the rest of the influencers that have wandered into politics in recent years

Is this the new game changer for the Ukrainian battlefield?
