This community is for posts about Marxism and geopolitics (including shitposts to some extent). Serious posts can be posted here or in /c/GenZhou. Reactionary or ultra-leftist cringe posts belong in /c/shitreactionariessay or /c/shitultrassay respectively.

What is it with a lot of "gifted kids" being neurodivergent? A large chunk of people i knew who I went to these types of schools with have some sort of mental disorder. I have...something [can't figure it out. I'll go see a psychiatrist at some point. I'm wagering bpd or ocd], another is diagnosed bipolar, another is diagnosed ocd, another has been in a mental institution multiple times, etc. It wasn't everyone obviously but I've seen it in other spaces too. I just don't get why it's the case. [Obviously I know there's the flipside where a lot of neurodivergent people did bad in school too. Its not a superpower]

Edit: Whats wrong with what I said?

The NT brain is a blueprint designed to last a long time under most conditions. To get non standard performance you need non-standard hardware configuration. Non-standard configurations all come with tradeoffs. The term "gifted" covers ND people who may be exploitable while not being too far from the standard that they become too difficult to manage. (the difficult to exploit are called the R word) Those "schools" are where they sift the exploitable ND from the rest. Instead of being left to grow into people the "gifted" are pushed and pressured to become specialized human capital and many do not survive the pressures.
