opening the wood fired pizza oven at 600F...

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

I remember thr one time I preheated the oven to 500 degrees and opened it like a giddy little child happy tp put my pizza in... uhh...

I think Im still rrecovering cells from the burns I got from that.

Also rlthe smoke alarms went off so ... 1/10 only good part about it was that it was cold that day and i lt warmed me up

[–] ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (4 children)

With 450 °C your pizza should be ready in 30 seconds.

That's what pizza ovens run at and it takes about 2-3 minutes for the pizza to be ready. You can also get ones that go up to 500°C.

what pizza?

You should try opening my heat treating kiln when it's been cooking at 1875° F.

Don't stand too close if you're wearing clothing made of synthetic fibers.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 21 hours ago

why do I want to put my dick in it?

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

1023.89°C in non-freedom units

[–] LastYearsIrritant@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, because two decimals of accuracy is very important here. The kiln keeps temperature that tightly controlled.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 3 points 1 day ago

Who am I to judge the temperature accuracy of one's furnace ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 54 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If the cold makes your dick shrink that shit's got to make it about ten feet long.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 days ago

You have a wonderful mind

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 10 points 2 days ago

I think it'd melt into goo before it could manage that.

I just hope that whatever lives in there will never breach containment.

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Aye! We found something to stuff SCP-682 into!

450 °K = 176.85 °C = 350.33 °F

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

JUST shy of book-burning temperature (according to my learnings from reading Ray Bradbury).

Thanks, fellow metric user! Freedom units shouldn't have a place in this world

[–] froh42@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I bake pizza at 400.

Celsius.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So do I, but Kelvin. Takes me a while.

Both are arbitrary scales. People tend to prefer the one they grew up with. Yes, water boiling at 100°C is neat. No, that doesn't mean people who use Fahrenheit are wrong. Unless they're doing science, cause SI units are important (Zenon did nothing wrong)

Also, the meme is supposed to be both. Using the American (400°F preheat is normal) assumption of relevance (yes, it's a real thing) but then pulling the switcheroo and using an image corresponding to Celsius.

[–] observantTrapezium@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Both are arbitrary but only one is an international standard

I grew up with F, but now I'm all for C. It drives me crazy that the US (where I grew up) refuses to change.

The meme is clearly saying the oven is at 450°C, which is 723.15K.

Where is this clip from? Reminds me of Sunshine.

It's from the end of Final Destination 5.

spoilerWhich is actually the event that started the first final destination.

[–] Mountainaire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Interesting, thanks for the spoiler; that makes me slightly more interested in watching now.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We got an oven that has a stone fire pizza mode on it. It gets the stone up to 750F. Cooks our homemade pizzas in ~2 minutes. It's awesome.

[–] Fluke@feddit.uk 1 points 22 hours ago

Jesus H, I bet it costs a fucking fortune to heat that up for the sake of a couple of pizzas.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

550 minimum for pizza

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Oh, just like opening the front door in Florida.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 5 points 2 days ago

450°R is cold as fuck, it's 41.7° below freezing duh, are you an alien?

[–] remon@ani.social 2 points 2 days ago

I see you like it charred to a crisp ...
