That word either shows up in my brain without reason or refuses to be found when I need it.

Greebling*

It's more a model (both IRL and in CGI) than a texture thing.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 12 hours ago

"texture" can also refer to the surface roughness/quality, not just the usage in 3d model surface images

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 hours ago

You're probably right. Appreciate you trying to help me understand.

The only thing even more futuristic than this would be something with a hexagon, or a holograph, or a holographic hexagon.

Ah yes, "Science Hexagons". Often the only distinguishing feature between Scifi anime and Magic anime.

Knowing Star Wars, I'm sure there's a novel explaining the corporation that manufactures those boxes, explains how they're centuries old company, how they're considered very reliable and long lasting, and how the family that owns the company had a big spit when the father wanted to cozy up to the Empire and how the son wanted to help the Rebels.

[–] charokol@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

That’s why I was surprised to see nobody had an answer to that question.

Fill a room with both, which looks better.

You can do the same with a cube and a cube that has wood lines.

[–] glasratz@feddit.org 1 points 5 hours ago

The point is that this exact line means "future" and is almost universally used.

I love it! The symmetry of the edge line is awesome!

Relatively recently, I had a personal web page where a implemented a cube in the center that was rotating and its every single side had a little secret inside for various crucial terms of life...

Cubes are recurring items in the Rusty Lake games, and have a key role in the entire series. They appear in one variety or another in every game.
