Isn't that just a rust wrapper of chromium or Firefox?

I doubt it. Most likely complying without complying. Then they dont put their monopoly in jeopardy. If people found out they could use any other app to communicate with WhatsApp users, then WhatsApp would have to actually compete on features and not "use it because everybody else does".

Being able to check off the box of interoperability without actually interoperating with a competitor is just a trick in my eyes. I hope the EU commission sees it that way too. Given how they want to placate the US though and the concessions they have been making, I won't hold my breath.

It won't be interoperable with anything people use, making it only theoretically interoperable. Wake me up once I can use it with Jami or Matrix.

Yes, fight the symptoms by invading everybody's privacy instead of educating people and legislating against Facebook, reddit, and others.

This is the Christian way: the system isn't the problem, you are the problem. Addicted to drugs? Weak willed! Fat? Weak willed! Sick? God's plan, deal with it! Uneducated? WeAkWiLlEd!

Probably the activists didn't vet access.

It is of course possible they hacked into the phones of the activists.

Are they sitting on Trump's flaccid dick and hoping it gets hard with this agreement? What the fuck is wrong with them? Some countries can even coordinate their own states to provide access to each other, but they are happy with an entire surveillance state accessing that data? Where is the national pride? Where is the sovereignty?

If China asked for this level of access, the EU would tell them to suck it, export limits be damned! But the land of the fat and unjust asks and their only comment is "that's too fast"? The EU and its citizens are such pushovers. Incredible.

Once you mentioned AVIF, I found it "FLIF", but JPEG-XL is an extension thereof.

Is this the right format? I thought there was an alternative with better compression and it was opensource and without royalties.

The amount of effort people have to go through to get windows 11 on their computers, they might as well just install linux.

AGI is the finish line, for them and humanity.

Enough outrage to remember for the next election? Probably not. Enough outrage to spam ministers and cabinet members with emails? Probably not.

We should support wealth taxes. We should be screaming about them to politicians and anybody who will listen non-stop. So what if he earns 96M? If they were taxed adequately, it wouldn't matter, but it isn't. He's going to buy a bunch of assets that won't be taxed at all and hoard it to make more: that is the bigger problem.

Tax his wealth so that taxing his income won't matter. That will wipe that grin off his face.

A few people pointed out that many rust projects were MIT licensed and since then I indeed have seen MIT licensed projects everywhere in Rust. Then I found the link of this post and it looks like MIT was by far the most popular license in all of opensource in 2023.

Any ideas why?

Basically, I'd like to have my own domain e.g onlinepersona@mydomain.com but not go through the hassle of hosting my own email service: I'd like to use another service that handled SPF, DMARC, and whatever else for me, grab the emails from their service using POP, and make it available to my email client on android and Linux using IMAP. SMTP will be through the third party.

This way, if the third party starts doing some bullshit like trying to lock me in, donating to a dickhead, or whatever else I disagree with, I can cancel my subscription, move to another third party, and keep all mails on my server.

How can I achieve this? Which search terms should I be using? "Self host email server" brings up stuff that's the equivalent of self-hosting gmail, AOL, posteo, kollabnow, or whatever, but that's not what I want. "Selfhost POP relay" doesn't have much better results, always bringing up SMTP relay...

The device with I2P is behind a NAT router without UPnP. The device has a firewall but has opened the UDP and TCP port for internet facing communication. The ports from the router are forward to the device's ports. Are there any ports missing?

Edit: I finally figured it out. The port forwarding was only for TCP. It would be good to have logs or some kind of status window stating why it thinks it's firewalled though.

Anti Commercial-AI license

I'm having trouble understanding what it is and how to use it. The project website seems to be filled with buzzwords but no actual usecase.

The name hints at a being a DEX, but that doesn't seem to be it. They talk about banking for everyone, but they don't have a coin. What exactly is it and how can one use it? Is it usable by laymen?

Maybe @social@social.diva.exchange can answer or anybody else who understands it...

Some projects have been DMCA'ed and hosting them on I2P could be a viable alternative.
