Hi everyone!

I'm looking for something to republish regularly (like every week would be perfect), that might interest lemmings or other fediverse people.

Why? It's to test out the tenfingers protocol and show how it can work like a distributing platform.

So any idea what I can try out with, it can be text (like an rss feed), audio, video or some webpage I guess. As long as it's regularly updated and that would pique the interest of people who are a bit tech savvy/curious.

Cheers

I'm kinda on risk for being put into one, so I kinda wanted to learn some stuff about how is it inside those. I think my biggest fear there is boredoom. Like, will I be able to videocall friends and/or listen to music there? Will my mp3 player/portable chinese retro emulator/phone/any eletronic be confiscated there?

23 Male, microcytic.

On 11/11/2025 I had blood tests done prescribed by my family doctor because I was experiencing problems with lack of strength/general asthenia. The tests showed that I have a serious vitamin D deficiency; specifically, my levels are at 10 ng/mL. The tests also showed slightly elevated levels of albumin (69%) and Folic Acid (31.1 ng/mL), but according to my doctor, these are not cause for alarm.

I want to point out that in the spring of this year, for the first time in my life, I set myself the goal of walking 10,000 steps a day, and I did so every day before lunch (between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.). In fact, during this period, I exposed myself to the sun for about 40 minutes every day, and I have never felt so good in my entire life. I was able to study without any problems, and I also trained four times a week for two and a half hours. I started having these occasional weakness issues during the summer, when I must admit that I didn't expose myself to the sun much because I suffer a lot from the heat (I live in Italy). So I really think my problem is related to low vitamin D levels, and I would like to feel like I did during that period again.

Since I didn't feel comfortable with this doctor, I stopped seeing him and a doctor friend of mine recommended me to take 8000 I.U. of vitamin D daily.

I started to take the vitamin D approximately 5 days after the tests, let's say I started the 11/16/2025.

The first two weeks I took some simple vitamin D (two 4000 IU tablets) and then, for another two weeks, I started taking a Vitamin D3 + K2 supplement purchased from Prozis, as my doctor friend had advised me to also take vitamin K2 to help transport calcium to the bones. Each capsule of this supplement contains 100 μg of vitamin K and 2000 IU of vitamin D3, so I took 4 capsules.

About two weeks after 11/16/2025, when I started the supplement, I began to feel more intense muscle pain than usual during my gym workouts and a more pronounced sense of fatigue all day along. So I decided, on my own, to reduce my Vitamin D3 supplementation. Recently, I have continued to take Vitamin D3 + K2 supplements, but the dose varies from 1 to 2 capsules (2000-4000 IU).

Essentially, what I noticed was that:

  • If I take 8000 IU a day, after 2-3 days the muscle pain and fatigue return at the gym
  • If I take 2000 IU per day for a week, I feel pretty good (although not like in the spring), but if I forget to take the supplement one day, after 2-3 days I experience episodes of severe muscle weakness, which prevent me from studying or doing other daily activities.

This month I changed my family doctor and explained this situation to her. She prescribed me a 50,000 IU vitamin D supplement to take once every two weeks. But I'm afraid that taking such a large dose all at once will cause the same problems I have when I take an 8,000 IU dose, if not worse.

So I would like to know, in your opinion, what is the daily dose of vitamin D I should take, and whether muscle pain and general fatigue can actually be linked to vitamin D3 or vitamin K2 supplementation, or to an increase in calcium in the muscles.

P.S. My calcium levels in blood are 9.9 mg/dL.

Coming home too damn tired to do anything else, even including chores, is top for me.

I have dishes lying around, laundry needing to be done at somepoint, some extra small tasks to do. But, trying to go 'above and beyond' for a shitty job just leaves you with nothing left to do them, having to waste time off to finally do them.

I'm in a building that's not my home, for 8 hours (used to have some days where it was 10 hours), a night. Where my company tries to tell me to treat their building that I work in, as a second home. Dealing with all of these tasks that ultimately mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Dealing with people who conveniently forget a lot of the time, as to how to be a normal human being and they being at your expense.

And in addition to coming home too damn tired to do anything else, I'm sometimes worrying if what I'm making now for however many hours, is enough to cover everything I need to have or want to have.

There's a faint outline around this dude and the fucking hair is anime IRL!

Just want to know I'm not crazy.

..and why?

Excluding the obvious such as clothes and utensils.

I'll start as an example: in the song Mr. Brightside by the Killers, the word "swimming" in "swimming through sick lullabies" is pronounced with a 't' at the start like in "tsunami". It's "tswimming through sick lullabies".

I have two machines:

  • 2014 Mac Mini
  • HP Pavilion g7

Mac Mini 2014:

Very slow, probably can no longer be updated, nor can it run worthwhile programs.

HP Pavilion g7

Extremely bulky, chunky, and doesn't even turn on unless it's plugged in. It's basically a desktop since the battery doesn't hold a charge.

I put Linux on it (Mint I think) a few months ago as a weekend experiment.

Question:

What should I do with them? Are they worth salvaging? Should I simply donate or recycle them?

I was thinking I could use at least one of them as a home media server or something so that I can disconnect my Smart TV from the internet, but I'm not sure if they will hold or how I would even control them from my phone (Android) if I'm sitting on the couch.

Open to all ideas. I'm somewhat technical (perhaps far less than the Lemmy community), but I don't know much about Linux or the command line unless I'm given step by step instructions on how to do something.

'Mouth Breather'

Like yeah I don't get this one. We all breathe through our mouths (and noses), because we have to. Yet I read this sometimes as it is used like an insult. So what are you saying? You're insulting someone for doing what billions of other human beings have to do naturally?

I’m currently a lump of chocolate and cheese, but once the new year hits, I’m determined to make 2026 the year I finally get back to a healthy weight (I’ve lost about 20 pounds, with about 80-100 to go). I’m pretty good about exercising regularly, but, as they say, abs are made in the kitchen. Those who have successfully lost weight, is there anything you particularly recommend for maintaining a calorie deficit to lose the weight, and then avoiding gaining it back later on?

In advance, I was not sure where to post this; OffMyChest, NoStupidQuestions or here. Decided to do it here because it is mainly a question. However, I thought it do be better explaining it a little as well.

When I was younger, I could not really get the luxuries I wanted. Just like many others, my parents did not have heaps of wealth to spend. I did not have it bad, got a roof above my head, education, food and such. Parents would spend on luxuries if they could. My siblings usually bought the more expensive things (Atari, Nintendo, PS1 and PS2 etc). My parents did purchase PS4 and a decent gaming pc for me back in the day. One time my father told me ‘’if you just show that you are seriously studying and if money allows, I will get you anything in luxury. However, money is the boss’’ (money is the boss as in, only if we got enough money to spent for it and not get into financial issues).

Because of that I have learnt to live kind of frugal in terms of money (for myself). I find it hard to spend money on expensive things. It took months to purchase a great gaming PC and a Steam Deck (loving the heck of it though). However, spending money on my parents (mostly my mother) is no issue. I do it without a thinking, as long as I know it makes them happy.

Now, I always wanted a MacBook since I was a teenager. I can afford to get one, I saved up for it and will not have any financial issues. I budget ever since getting my job, everything is already set (saving up for car stuff, emergency funds for both myself and parents, pension saving and even saved up for new glasses for whenever that’s needed). Yet with all of that, I still feel not comfortable paying a lot for something that’s ‘’not necessary’’ and that’s just a ‘’luxury product’’. I feel like the money, I would spent for the MacBook could better be saved towards either emergency funds or car stuff (car theory exam, the car itself etc).

Now, I’m curious if other people deal (or have dealt) with this and what is this called? How to be more at ease with spending for fun instead of always being on edge.

Note: I checked the rules and it said this is not a support community but that seemed more related to tech-stuff. If it was also meant for this kind of question. Apologies, I will ask in another community.

Specifically for a comercial gym, how do you structure them, what machines would you use for which muscles?

i tend to be a bit of a yapper, very loud (theres an interesting reverse-masking thing going on there, which if anyones interested, lmk and ill explain) and tend to be quite rude.

really inside, im a quiet person, but i tend to impulsively speak and be loud, and say things i dont really want to say, e.g. being rude.

these are things i really want to deal with. when i talk less, and be quieter like i am inside, i tend to be much happier. does anyone have any tips?

Do you think real life is like that?
