Most noteworthy for me is the fact that more Americans think that porn (52%) and homosexuality (39%) are wrong than spanking children (23%) and being ultra wealthy (18%).

How about all of it is none of your fucking business?

The huge acceptance of growing babies in a lab for money is very disheartening

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 minute ago

Designer babies. Soon they'll start doing plastic surgery on newborns. Fix that nose right away.

this is what happens when you dismantle education. good job, conservatives. the collapse can't come fast enough.

Thanks for sharing, now I really want to go cry. I hate this country.

It makes me so mad how much worse alcohol is than weed and yet people think weed is morally worse, fml

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 minutes ago

I always take the line of its the amount. Like I could have a few drinks once or twice a year, and some dude could smoke weed everyday. Which one is worse?

I have seen peoples lives destroyed by both alcohol and weed. It always comes down to how much of drug X are you using and how is it affecting your overall self, surroundings and circles.

Propaganda's a helluva drug.

Imprisoning, torturing, and killing animals = A-OK

2 consenting adults of the same gender having sex = whoa, too far!

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

The question was whether eating meat is morally wrong. That can be done without imprisoning and torturing animals. Those issues are intermingled and correlated, but not the same thing. The framing of the question has a big impact don't he answer.

Its completely absur that assisted suicide (35%) is almost the same as the death penalty (34%)

Doesn't it make perfect sense actually?

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If you support the death penalty, it would be really fucking weird to turn around and oppose assisted suicide.

The Venn diagram of "accepts assisted suicide" should be a circle around "accepts death penalty."

[–] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

implicit in these questions is that the death penalty is being applied to very bad people who totally deserve to die and burn in hell, and that suicide is when good people reject God's gift of life. So they are not the same for religious people at least. πŸ˜‰

Makes sense when you realize that there's almost no overlap in the people who believe each thing is morally wrong.

Yeah, but its still quite funny to think about.

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 12 points 11 hours ago

Some of these percentages are really depressing.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 11 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

This, on top of many others, shows how mind-bent in a bad way Americans are.

No wonder they have a shithead for "President".

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Yes, as an american i can tell you trump is the president we deserve for being shitheads. George Carlin said it decades ago, politicians dont fall from the sky, they're american kids who were raised by american parents and went to American schools and worked american jobs, and were elected by other American people. Garbage in, garbage out, we all have to look inward and figure out how to do better because trump really is the symptom of the greater disease.
