I heard about this from my wife (who is Japanese), and it's mostly a bad harvest along with few secondary reasons. If you're like me and thought it's the USs fault, it probably isn't helping with trade but Japan can still very much import rice from the US. Korea just makes more sense right now, probably.

In fact, ironically, tarrifs might actually help-- less US demand for Japanese rice means very slight increase in domestic supply. But it's likely not a lot.

Yes, I was about to say the same thing until I saw your comment. I had a little bit of success learning a few tricks with o3 but trying to use o4 is a tremendous headache for coding.

There might be some utility in dialing it all back so it's more straight to what I need based more on package documentation than random redditor suggestion amalgamation.

They won't. But I wish they would, as far as I've seen from my local LA government, they're also really poorly prepared. The plan, for instance, is to hold events across several major LA venues (and not build any new ones) but since our public transit is complete trash, it's going to be a logistics nightmare.

Basically us locals are going to straght up have to go full quarantine mode since the traffic is going to be so bad. And it's a shame, last time I heard at LAEDCs forecast, they really need the revenue.

Still one of my wifes favorite sketches of theirs.

Oh for sure, a "apply to everyone" tarrif isn't a well thought out approach just as firing all probationary hires isn't a well thought out approach. Just hate that people are acting like he also put tarrifs on Atlantis or Wakanda or something because he thinks they exist. An apply all rule would include those places, too, but it's stupid because of why you said, not because he's actively choosing uninhabited islands by hand.

My dad was poking fun at this because it's an old "haha look how dumb Trump is" but like, it's literally a tariff on everything on Earth. It's such a small point compared to the huge mess this whole stupid idea is.

I should use this as an excuse to finally get a NAS setup. Maybe.

Yeah, I'm afraid the tech bros cut costs by not saving backups and removing all the old ones. Hell, all our changes are made in prod, no staging allowed here.

I've met the type who run businesses like that, and they likely do deserve punishment for it. My own experience involved someone running gray legality betting apps, and the owner was a cheapskate who got unpaid interns and filipino outsourced work to build their app. Guy didn't even pay 'em sometimes.

Granted, you could also hire inexperienced people if you're a good person with no financial investor, but that I've mostly seen with education apps and other low profit endeavors. Sex stuff definitely is someone trying to score cash.

I wonder if this and others will force US rebuilding efforts to include governmental reform if and when Trump is out. No amount of Obamas can reassure people the US isn't just going to flip out the left time it changes hands again.

Kinda like how self driving cars are still safer than the average driver, ya. Do they make mistakes? For sure, although the bigger annoyance is just how slow they are to turn sometimes. AI would be so so at leading but man is the bar low with Americans.

You know, they blame AI but it's just a fucking 20 year old intern using Ctrl find and replace. I have literally been that person before, although not such that my indifference to my job involves nuclear secrets and a whole nations SSNs.
