Go on a garlic-fueled rampage in this action title released for the Nintendo GameCube™ system in 2003! Wario's journey begins with a promise of vengeance against a powerful and cursed black jewel that's warped his castle and nabbed his treasure. Defeat enemies, collect coins and treasures, and rescue Spritelings trapped in boxes as you progress through four stages. Wario's got some mighty powerful moves, like Wild Swing-Ding and Piledriver, that aren't just good for attacking—they're also slick at clearing path-blocking traps.

In late November, the United Nations Security Council endorsed the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” which includes President Trump’s 20-point framework.

Washington and Jerusalem celebrated it as a breakthrough. In reality, it represents one of the most dangerous recent efforts to make international law irrelevant, installing a neo-colonial trusteeship run by those who have armed, funded and politically shielded Israel for decades.

Despite media hype, the October “ceasefire” was never a true ceasefire at all. Israel has since bombed homes and schools, killing more than 300 Palestinians, injuring hundreds more and demolishing civilian infrastructure. It is still blocking desperately needed humanitarian aid.

I was looking into the new, probably AI, data center being built in town and noticed it's built by a private equity backed firm. The data center was rejected by the city and has to operate with a standard cooperate building water supply. They said are switching to air cooling only and reducing the compute power to keep power usage the same. This has caused amazon, the alleged operator, to back out. So they are building a giant reduced capacity data center with no operator and apparently still think that's a good idea. My understanding of the private equity bubble is that the firms can hide "under performing" assets because it's all private. From what I read, possibly 3.2 Trillion dollars of it. I feel like this new data center is going on the "under performing" pile.

Musk says he wants to Abolish the EU. What a dumb idea, I say let's Abolish Elon Musk in Europe and everywhere.

You can help abolish Elon Musk. Here's how:

  • The lowest hanging fruit is if you have a Twitter account (I'm betting by now hardly anyone reading this does) but if you're a holdout it's already way overdue, time to stop using that account. Sadly Twitter recycles deleted usernames so the best solution is to park your account meaning make a post saying you're now on Bluesky, Mastodon or Lemmy and stop using Twitter. You can view any public tweet with nitter.net or xcancel.com just by replacing x.com with nitter.net or xcancel.com, everything else stays the same in the URL but of course it would be nice if you strip out any tracking parameters on the URL too. Also be sure to use these services when sharing a link to a Tweet instead of linking to Twitter directly.

  • Next try urging other people you know to make the switch. Have a friend on Twitter? Tell them to switch and offer to help them if they are not good with computers/phones. Know any companies, organizations, entities or groups still on Twitter? Contact them and ask them to switch to Bluesky or especially if they're more technically oriented consider mentioning Mastodon as well. It's surprisingly easy to do this, most companies have a contact form on their website or an email address, just give them a message, you never know, it might work. Also very important: urge all companies you can to avoid advertising spending on Twitter.

  • Next let's talk Tesla: again with this one I think pretty much everyone already knows not to buy a Tesla. So here's what you can do if you want to make an impact: we got to strip Musk of all subsidies. For this one I would be grateful for help identifying what subsidies Elon Musk receives in Europe but please contact every politician you can and demand that Musk doesn't receive any subsidies, incentives or breaks from your government. Tesla should not be eligible for incentives to purchase an EV. Another thing is if you know someone who is thinking about buying a Tesla tell them why it's a bad idea. For example Tesla cars are a deathtrap due to the electric handles. People have burned alive in a Tesla unable to escape. Also I've read reports Teslas have poor build quality. So even if the person you know doesn't care at all about politics they should still care about safety and build quality.

  • With Tesla the next step is to give Elon Musk a taste of his own medicine and see how much Musk really likes tariffs. Put tariffs or maybe even bans on Tesla products.

  • Another thing to do for Tesla is if they are applying for any permits or licenses to demand your government denies it. Fascists should not be able to setup shop in your country.

  • Lastly another idea is back, invest and support companies who have better products or potential to beat Musk's companies. With this one be sure you're not just trading one right-wing asshole for another. Make sure the company is more ethical. This is especially important for Starlink and SpaceX which are harder to boycott because they are b2b and a government contractor. However for government contractors you do have a lot of options to contact your politicians and demand they go with someone else for future contracts but note I'll admit there are some cases where right now SpaceX may be the only option unfortunately. Credits to all the SpaceX employees who were able to pull this off despite Musk's poor leadership.

Starting today, iam8bit is opening preorders on Xcavator 2025, a brand new NES game, on a real NES cartridge, with 100% of the profits going directly toward our preservation work here at the VGHF.

This isn't just any NES game- this is based on a prototype made all the way back in 1991! You might remember our story about recovering and rebuilding an unreleased Days of Thunder game for the NES from the archives of its programmer, Chris Oberth. What we didn't tell you at the time was that we found an unfinished demo by him for another game, Xcavator.

An act of altruism from the industry After we recovered the data, our friends at Incredible Technologies, where Xcavator was originally created, were kind enough to donate all of the game's copyrights to us. Developer Mega Cat Studios stepped up to donate their time finishing and polishing up Oberth's work, and Lost in Cult stepped up to donate the brand new key art on the game's packaging. Finally, iam8bit agreed to publish and market the game on our behalf, eschewing all profits and sending them straight to us!

This really is a first-of-its-kind: a lost game that was donated back to the archivists who recovered it, and a multi-company effort to publish it as what just might be the first commercial game to fund a preservation charity.

The cartridge is available to preorder now. We have plans to make the original prototype and its source code available for free as an educational resource as well, stay tuned for that!

By 'Git instances' they mean Gogs instances that allow open registration. I know most of the community moved from Gogs to Gitea, and then to Forgejo, but thought this was still worth noting.

The report, by anti-tobacco organisations STOP and Contre-Feu, identified at least eight meetings between tobacco industry representatives and EU officials that were not disclosed in 2023 and 2024, citing documents obtained by Contre-Feu.

The report also flagged 257 meetings between tobacco industry lobbyists and members of the European Parliament between 2023 and 2025. It said 49 organisations linked to the industry were actively lobbying EU rule makers, with collective spending of 14 million euros ($16 million) per year

"We are happy to collaborate with French businesses but not with Dassault," IG Metall's deputy chief Juergen Kerner said in a letter to German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil

Kerner urged Berlin not to compromise with Dassault, accusing the company of insisting on sole leadership of the programme. "Dassault has completely disqualified itself as a reliable partner within Europe in times of acute threat," he wrote. "A line has been crossed. We no longer trust Dassault."

Hey folks. My understanding of the self-hosting world is that Proxmox is kinda the king of the roost, and deservedly so. I use it myself both for personal and work projects, and love what it provides. I've also used TrueNAS Core/SCALE, and of course just traditional Linux desktop or server distros of various sorts for projects, but out of the corner of my eye has always been sitting XCP-NG. It seems like it could be a real contender in the space.

I've tried installed it a handful of times, and each time it felt like something with a lot of potential, but the freemium model just felt too onerous to make it worth investing too much into learning it. My initial observations were:

  • (Plus) It may just be my imagination but in my limited interaction with VMs, they felt a little snappier in terms of interactivity compared to Proxmox/KVM. The console clipboard is a bit weird if you're used to NoVNC but I assume I could adapt to it.
  • (Plus) The console for the dom0 and guest VMs is completely persistent, which is awesome. The xsconsole manager program is also a really great management TUI as well, looks great and nice alternative to needing to do things in the GUI or command line. The dom0 console is password protected by default, which I see now in Proxmox 9.x also does. Good security practice, at least there.
  • (Plus) I like the incremental backup system. It's very efficient and I'm not aware of any equivalent in other systems.
  • (Minus) It seems difficult (maybe not impossible?) to manage some things e.g. VM disk allocations, etc from the main XCP web instance only. They really seem to want you using Xen Orchestra.
  • (Huge Minus) The licensing seems extremely expensive compared to Proxmox, to the point where it seems out of reach as a homelab solution. I also really don't like that they don't push updates to the Community edition XO. I know there are some scripts on github to work around this, but it just seems like such a bad look for them to not send security updates to the community edition, even if it's at a slower rate than for the paid customers, which I believe is how Proxmox works.

Does anyone use xcp in homelab environment, or only in enterprise given the cost issues? What do you like about it compared to proxmox or other multi-VM hosting solutions?
