And you are making assumptions on how hard it would be. In reality, people do it all the time. The hard part is breaking the habit and getting out of the comfort zone. And to not have to get out of that comfort zone, people throw up barriers for themselves, making it seem harder than it is.
Even you are trying to make it seem worse than it is, citing a four-year training when I just told you that during that training the trainee nurses are usually working on the floor in paid internships within a year.
So like I said, the hard part is not the actual switch, but the mental process to start the switch, getting out of the groove that you’re stuck in and overcoming perceived barriers that you built up in your own mind.
Obviously there will be actual barriers for some people. And timing may not be right for everyone, like for parents with a newborn, but once kids grow older it will become easier. Partners can work a little more for a few years to fill in the gaps. It’s not like most people will become homeless if they have a little less income during their training.
Anyway, what the OP said was that it would be hard finding a job that benefits society. And finding the job isn’t very hard once you’re trained.
Once again being an RN is a 4 year degree. Are you thinking of LPN? Internships are usually the last year of the program.
I know RN is a total of 4 years, but it’s simply not true that Clinicals usually only start in the last year. Maybe in the past, but nowadays it starts a lot sooner.

And that still doesn’t disprove what I said about the availability of nursing jobs. I’m getting a bit tired of this moving of the goal posts.
Nursing school is incredibly difficult both to get into and to complete. There may be a lot of nursing jobs available in your area for this very reason.
You are both missing the point. It’s not about nursing specifically. It’s about the fact that there are plenty of jobs that contribute something to society if you’re willing, whether it’s nursing or teaching, or something very different. Nursing is just one example and I’ve already spent too much time on it, since it’s not the point.
It’s easy to complain about how hard something is and only a little less easy to make a change. But people don’t want a little less easy. I was just calling that out, but that message obviously doesn’t earn you any points on Lemmy, QED, but it’s no less true.
It doesn't matter how willing you are. Nursing schools do not accept just any willing person. When it comes to actually doing the job... it takes a whole lot more than just being willing. The average person CANNOT be a nurse. It's just a very tone deaf and unrealistic thing to suggest.
Intelligence and emotional ability are not the result of willpower. It's actually more comparable to being athletic or physically strong. Sure, most people can improve their physical health, but there is a threshold for how strong you're capable of becoming, determined by genetics and lifestyle. Intelligence and emotional capacity are the same. It's sort of like you showed open positions for being a bodybuilder or an MMA fighter and then said "see? there are plenty of jobs." This makes no real-world sense.
