Archival purposes. Movies and shows you watch often; games you’ve bought through GOG or Steam that you want to keep but don’t always want clunking around on a hard drive. I have an 8TB network drive that I throw more ephemeral files on. It also houses a bunch of ROMs.

I hope you're using archival quality optical media, because burned retail discs can have a lifespan as short as 10 years
