LOL! Thank you France for developing an angled blade. Although the horizontal blade may not be a bad idea for the murdering bastards.
Allegedly it was originally horizontal and the angled blade was actually Louis XVI's idea. So, good on him for making his own death less painful I guess
Sorry, bit of an amateur here. What's the difference between the angled and straight blades? Besides the angling of course. Is one more efficient than the other?
Again, my apologies for my ignorance, most of my decapitations are done with chainswords.

think of cutting food in your kitchen. slicing cuts better than chopping. an angled blade is similar to a slicing motion.
really it's more that the cut starts at a smaller area than all at once.
I believe that an angled blade would create a more thorough cut as it's a smaller point of contact for cutting. So it'll cut through ligaments, maybe even vertebrae. Where as a flat one it is initially a small point that gets bigger which requires more force to go through the neck further.
This got me imagining a guillotine-ing that is narrated by the How It's Made people.
Watch as the metal blade slices through the skin with supreme ease, then continues on through the main muscles of the neck etc?
My understanding is the angled blade introduces a force more like slicing and chopping at the same time
