If it's true, it's probably geolocked to only the US seeing it.
Possibly, but that doesn't look like a maps compass rose I've ever seen.
Could be for Android or something.

Well that was a fucking lie.
It's still Ontario in Germany (Android).
It is Android.
Still says Lake Ontario for me, on Android, in Google Maps. I'm in Europe
