I don't use Matrix, but that doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Do not under any circumstances download a mobile client it murdered my battery which ordinarily runs Cheogram and Delta Chat all night without a hitch
try element x, it has been fine for me
That or SchildiChat X have their own issues. It's mid. Just not a good skype replacement
