This is how I feel about many b movies. I can't say that they're good movies but I do like them
Ha, I remember screening Perfect Blue for some friends and feeling like this. I don't think they really liked it unfortunately, which is a shame. That movie is a masterpiece.
What timeframe is "old" ?
I had heard The Lobster was funny, so picked it to watch with my wife. I still remember the accusing way she looked at me every other scene.
And she STILL mentions this movie years later! Fairly I had just suggested watching Tusk with her a few weeks prior ( "it's Kevin smith sweetie it should be funny!"), and she'll never forgive me for that suggestion either - or the though that I might have a thing for people turning into animals.
And this kinda thing is why I don't pick films, TV or music for groups anymore. That and far too often getting negative responses from others.

Well if it was a random pick then oh well, whatever. But otherwise then yeah -I find myself nitpicking more. Bc I’m vouching for it being worthy of our time, so it’s reflective on me. Plus I’m trying to gauge if my company is enjoying themselves.
Me too! I’ll pick lesser known films just to broaden horizons or see people’s reactions when they don’t know what to expect. It’s very much part of the fun😁
I'm that way anytime it's my turn to pick what anime to watch.
