We swapped all that malarkey for planned obsolescence and subscriptions.

Not surprising.

They were building for war time conditions. They figured out the worst possible outcomes and then tripled down on them.

Heck, there are WW2 jeeps still in use today. There were DC-3 airplanes that were flown for 40 years.
