As part of the devs farewell message on their site, they have included malicious code to make each visitor sends 2,000 requests to the dbzer0 servers in an attempt to DDOS and take the instance offline.

Oh! Is that maybe why my network choked to a mere double figure kb crawl after I posted about it [~ and pasting the diatribe for posterity, and so others wouldnt have needed visit that]?

I just presumed it was the dozen distro ISO I was downloading at the time too, in a distroholic relapse.

... I'm not really paying attention to all this drama.
