Locking d/t rule 6: No US politics

[–] felsiq@piefed.zip 50 points 1 day ago

This is such a funny question to imagine someone from twenty years ago reading.

“Alright everybody, please ignore the president’s war crimes, evil gestapo, and child raping for a moment-“
“The fucking what????”

Empowering brendan car is pretty bad. Stopping wind solar projects also bad. Eroding public trust in the election system. Kidnapping a foreign leader. Trying to replace the UN, a thing we already control with a thing only trump controls. Tearing down part of the whitehouse with zero planning or permission to fix it. Running a crypto bribery grift. Telling people Tylenol and vaccines cause autism. Shitting his pants and sleeping in public meetings. Accepting a 400 million dollar plane he's going to gift his personal charity when he's out of office.

I can't pick one. The dude sucks. I eagerly await his obituary or prison sentence.

The gutting of the US government.

  1. All of the departments gutted of staff and budgets, all of the people forced out due to loyalty. The accounts out of the DOJ paint them as having lost almost all of their lawyers. I question whether the DOJ can recover from it.
  2. The tarriffs and fighting former US allies. By the time Trump is out, the US will potentially not be the international trade currency, and will be replaced for its biggest ally, Canada. China is already openly moving to replace the USD.
  3. That the moron and his brats pushed crypto and brazen scams.

Environmental damage. The Trump administration has canceled green energy projects (wasting hundreds of millions of previously invested funding in the process), supported fossil fuel companies, removed protections from federal land, defunded environmental regulatory agencies, and disabled climate monitoring conducted by NOAA, NASA and NWS.

Above and beyond everything else that Trump is responsible for, the environmental damage is going to be affecting not just US citizens but the entire world far into the future. Nothing else will compare to the scale of human suffering and death that will be caused by the Trump administration's environmental policies.

The other things that have been mentioned are more immediate and visceral and tend to provoke stronger emotional responses, but the environmental damage is going to last much longer, be much more difficult to fix, and kill many many more people.

Trans erasure

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 9 points 1 day ago

Destroying nearly everything that the country did for it's citizens.

[–] BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

Starting a fight with Canada for no good reason.

The extensive efforts to eradicate all the trans people come readily to mind for me.

Cutting all the funding and support for programs for financial support for those less well off, anything that benefits the public as a whole, public safety systems like the FDA or CDC, and putting people who tear down all of those systems into leadership positions. Hell, he put someone who wanted to close the Department of Education into the top role.

More people are harmed by those actions, but it isn't as easy to visualize.

Immense damage has been done to the short-term and long-term health of the USA and several other countries. Measles had been eradicated, for fuck's sake!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

All the stealing, graft, and corruption. The hollowing out of expertise in all our governement agencies is likely a worse thing though. I mean the weakening of laws and constitution and outright violation of it but that gets close to using some of those words.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

All the fucking fake gold everywhere.

[–] disregardable@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Withdrawing from the UN, illegal and random murders in the Caribbean, deleting decades of scientific data that the public paid for because it's not in line with the party's propaganda, withdrawing funds from our scientific agencies for personal corruption, shutting down public services that global organizations relied on, causing chaos and thousands and deaths, permanently damaging public trust in science by putting in alt-right vaccine truther, also just the billions of dollars he's made just from selling off our government.

overall 0/10 in every fashion. like you occasionally see those questions like, "name one good thing this administration has done" and there literally isn't one.

ever since they stole the first of THREE seats (so far) on the supreme court, i've always said that was the absolute worst
