This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Damn, my 'platform' is too weak to play the unenhanced version, of you pile enhancements on it I'll have to wait a decade or more (given the ongoing RAMaggedon).
Another next-gen witcher 3 update? Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but the last one was both underperforming and kind of underwhelming. Why not do a witcher 1 next gen? The old goose desperately neets a graphical and/or combat update.

Aye. The last one was okay-ish (for a free thing) even though it sucked.
But do w1 or w2. W1 preferred, as this one aged the worst.
All owners of The Witcher 3 can now play to two acclaimed expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — at no additional cost.
Ohh wow, that's nice. I didn't get it first time because the final boss of the base game sour my whole love of it, gotta give it another go some time.
HoS is a phenomenal piece of DLC that you’re supposed to play alongside the main story. It has a truly fantastic villain. BaW is a nice capstone for Geralt’s story, which takes place after the events of the main story.
I tend to fall into the “DLC is bad” camp, but both W3 expansions are perfect examples of how DLC can be good. I tend to dislike DLC because it tends to break (at least) one of the following criteria:
The base game is already complete, and doesn’t require the DLC for a full experience.
The DLC meshes neatly within the base game without feeling bolted onto the side.
The DLC adds genuinely interesting content to the game.
All three critera are what I would typically complain about with DLC, and Witcher 3’s DLC passes all three litmus tests. So any complaints I would have about them would essentially boil down to personal preference rather than objective reasons.
Agreed, and also about the DLC rankings. Blood and Wine is alright but it's wildly overrated. It's a nice post-game vacation and it has some fun stuff in it, but it's ideal to play like a year after finishing base game + HoS, in my opinion.
Hearts of Stone is the best Witcher content CDPR has produced yet.
Always nice to see a company be pro-consumer, pro-gamer in these times of corporate greed that see gamers as nothing more than psychological manipulable profit.
Especially given how easily many seem to have willfully forgotten the horrendous Cyberpunk launch, they could've easily pulled a Nintendo with this stuff.
That's what I was thinking watching the trailer. The switch 2 remaster of breath of the wild cost £8 extra and it didn't include the dlc
I got the base game for free on GoG after playing it once on Gamepass a few years back, now I get the two expansions + remastered as well lol
Child me would be amazed at how easy it is to play AAA games without spending a dime nowadays. I grew up with a dozen or so games and that was it because my father didn't want to spend more money on videogames lol
