Yes hello I'm here for my ethanol appointment, please bring me one glass of intoxication juice now.

And then precisely seven and one half minutes after, you’re gonna bring me one more.

Then one more after that every five minutes until I pass the fuck out.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I can't imagine paying restaurant prices for something I can make at home, probably better

But yes hello I am here for my raw fish appointment

If you're not italian and don't have a nice family recipe and generational knowledge about precisely how to do it, going to an Italian restaurant (if it's run by an actual italian family) can be an eye-opening experience about how good pasta and sauce can be.

Like I can make passable Thai or Vietnamese stir fries, but even if I do my absolute best to use the most authentic ingredients, it just won't be the same as if it were made by a Thai or Vietnamese person.

The importance of generational knowledge in the techniques of cultural cooking is impossible to overstate. Everything from the temperature of the pan, to how often and how aggressively to stir it, to how much oil to use, to the ratio of the spices, and how long to leave it on the heat, whether or not to flip, what to do when you take it off the heat, when to add certain spices, etc.

Like, it's easy to read some instructions and make a passable dish. But perfecting all the precise little details is something that takes a lifetime of immersion and learning from someone who's been doing it their whole life, such as parents or grandparents.

Pasta, sauce, and bread are the same way.

Get there at least fifteen minutes early to finish the paperwork.

The spaghetti will see you now

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

I'm sorry, sir, the spaghetti is still seeing another customer and is running a few minutes behind.

[–] restingOface@quokk.au 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

What's your spaghetti policy?

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
  • Yes

  • Breaking noodles before cooking is okay

  • Slurping is NOT okay

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 26 minutes ago

Slurping is NOT okay

Fine, I'll just go eat ramen instead

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

If you stare into the spaghetti long enough, the spaghetti stares back into you.

I don't know why did you choose to share a photo of the text instead of sharing the text directly, but here is the text anyway:

Reservations are so embarrassing like hi i'm here for my spaghetti appointment

[–] zorblitz@programming.dev 2 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

The screenshot makes it a meme, now it's just a shower thought

[–] Secret_Music@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 54 minutes ago

Screenshots also credit the OP or source (if it's not a copy paste from someone else, that is).
