Opening the link? I’m sorry, we only read headlines (if you’re lucky) and post comments based on that here

Think of the children.

Then release your freedom to a higher power.

These things keep coming back no matter how much you say no.

Its the equivalent of a guy asking a girl for her number.

Can I have your number? Can I, Can I, can I have your number? Can I

Come on guys, have a little faith in the Union... If we would all just give up on privacy, and blindly trust an international intelligence apparatus with our most intimate data, perhaps then they'd finally have enough privileges; at least for another year. We shouldn't take steps to protect ourselves, instead the Union will act in our best interest and do it for us!

Those in charge are as is often the case incompetent when it comes to actual means of running things.

They impose high taxes to offset the losses caused by their corrupt politics and friends & families appointed to public institutions. In turn, they’re surprised that the general populace have started to get outside of the system by living off grid, having money outside of their circle of influence, etc. The population is starting to become ungovernable.

It never was about any sort of safety.

I think this is abuse. Not physical abuse, but abuse of structural power.

This feels contrary to the spirit of the union. We've gone from including everyone and respecting minorities to being so fearful of our internal enemies that we are willing to throw our liberty and freedom away on the notion that it will solve the problems.
