Hyperuplink is what internet bulletin boards used to be, but rebuilt for today: A modern internet forum software as a single, dependency-free binary without any PHP runtime, CGI, FPM, node_modules, and without client-side JavaScript. It’s one self-contained, statically-linked executable that beams data straight out of your PostgreSQL into beautiful, modern, server-side rendered HTML5 and CSS.

A direct but more lightweight and simple alternative to phpBB, Discourse, NodeBB, vBulletin and Flarum, except that it runs anywhere and is easy to maintain.

Looks interesting, but damn, the person behind this project has one really annoying website, https://xn--gckvb8fzb.com/ Like, there is something just oozing with pretentious energy here. Also, unironic use of an Andrew Tate meme in the most recent entry of the "updates" section. But more to the point, like, I get it, JavaScript can do all kinds of fun things without people's knowledge, but making your own personal website annoying about it only makes me think you're annoying.

But also, I've been clocked. What's funny is, disabling javascript on this site, sure, fine. However, I lived that "disable javascript everywhere" life for almost a year, and it just made using the internet for day-to-day business a fucking annoyance.

I looked at that site and the guy seems like the type who called others soydevs back before LLMs exploded onto the scene.

I have their blog in my RSS reader, and while the technical posts are interesting, yeah big yikes energy like basically every fash into FOSS, sighs. I also use disabled javascript, aside from some whitelisted websites, or try to use it disabled anyways lol

as a single binary, available for most popular platforms, without any runtime dependencies

ok, so it's all self -contained, I can respect that

requires PostgreSQL and Redis servers running

what the fuck!
