No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

..., the airport's centerpiece would be a display aircraft wrapped in Vice City logos, alongside a GTA 6-inspired baggage claim, customized baggage carousels or column wraps, themed luggage carts, limited-edition luggage tags, or coordinated airport signage. Arriving passengers would see "Welcome to Vice City" messages when disembarking their planes.

There are legitimately locations that have gotten a tourism bump from being present in media.

I think that the idea of Miami doing it is pretty nuts, though, content aside. Miami isn't some kind of obscure backwater from a tourism standpoint.

Ah so he would be equally upset promoting movies or tv shows who show any crimes. Nuance and satire are not a thing for this man. See now Hollywood, Miami doesn't need anything filmed in their city.

Such an obvious ploy to try and convince the oearl clutchers to vote for him for mayor. Even though this is a very unique thing to bring in tourists.

But no a train and plane wrap, and a place for selfies and influencers will bring Miami into chaos.

Theres a few differences between GTA and movies, but to focus on a big one, in GTA you have agency over your character. In a movie, its always a 3rd person perspective of somebody else breaking laws. In games, you are the one calling the shots.

I believe most people are rational enough to separate the fictional game world from reality, but by bringing reality closer to the game, I think it’s a valid concern that it will influence those who struggle with that to behave more like their avatar in the game.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, it would be rather cool. but there is a bit of risk associated with it.

Edit: re-read the article and thought about it some more and I changed my mind. The risk I expressed is pretty negligible, and for the tourist impact it would probably be well worth it.

Interesting idea, but I would rather see parts of the city converted into Arkham City instead. Housing problems and vagrancy would vanish overnight.
