I'm not even using a VPN (FreeTube).

Edit: I slept the night and it works now for some reason. Maybe it was just a bad dream.
I self-host my invidious instance but run it behind vpn, if IP ever gets blocked i just run a script to change IP then refresh.
Can confirm it happens even with residential IPs recently, good thing I don't have static or 'sticky' IP so I'm not blocked too long.
I am glad YouTube hasn't blocked me even though I only access it with ytdl-sub nowadays, as I have had the same non-static IP for over 2 years now.
I am honestly assuming my ISP noticed I am self hosting stuff that only I can access and gave me a free static IP, because that shit hasn't rotated even after a half dozen power day long power outages, and multiple day long service outages.
Not to mention the dozens of times I have had to reboot my modem for various reasons.
I have no way to check, but i honestly think it survived a modem replacement in my early days of self hosting (modem partially fried itself in an... interesting fashion).

Not quite.
Port 3 fried completely (and fried the ethernet on a PC mobo), LAN devices could no longer see WLAN devices, ports 1 and 4 could see eachother, port 2 couldn't see anything, but everything could still access WAN.
Edit: and having something in port 3 meant the other ports couldn't access WAN.
In my experience this should go away after some hours, alternatively you can obtain a new IP address (powercycling your router, switching to mobile data etc, depending on your set up).

If you have an IPv6 prefix, you could look into rotating your IPv6 address every time YouTube blocks you.

A VPN gets around the block. I change locations when I'm blocked.
i've never had a vpn co-operate with youtube. i have an exception for freetube in my vpn

Odd as that's one of the main reasons to use a vpn - bypassing geoblocking.
If I may suggest, already start finding alternatives where those you follow are. Helps with both timeouts, and at making less painful to stop using Youtube altogether if/when the need comes.
youtube has become my defacto time-wasting platform since i've eschewed all other american social media platforms.
sometimes, i feels like i've regressed back down to 2005 because of it. lol
I use invidious, but there's come a point, after 3 or 4 tries, I just use the embedded link. Privacy is like security. Make it as hard for the other person as possible without making it impossible for yourself
Yeah, it works after a few hours. I usually use tor meanwhile.
I get that than I open yt in a browser.
try turning aeroplane mode on off, it works for me on mobile data
