Depends on the apocalypse.
Nuclear? Get a nice tan in the radiation (or Ideally blast zone).
Zombie or a virus? Probably just die. No way I want to live through a zombie apocalypse and the virus would probably be painful.
I don't know why anyone would want to live through an apocalypse. It's bound to be hell.
Speak for yourself, I play fallout Iβm gonna be the leader of the most cool and based faction and we have the right idea of how to run the wastelands!
Uhh get my boyfriend pregnant
I mean, it depends heavily on the type of apocalypse.
Meteor strike? Iβll just enjoy the next three days. Itβll likely wipe out any chance anyone has of survival.
Zombies? Yeah, Iβd probably try and survive and group up with some of my better equipped friends.
Global nuclear war? Iβll just off myself. I donβt want to even exist in that scenario.
Just get closer to the blast zone. There is a specific blast zone ring that you don't want to be in. That are will rip apart you DNA slowly relative if you survive the fires.
how about idiocracy? lol
OP stated it was still a could days away
I'd wait to see if it really is that bad, but yeah
Ok so, you're vague on what the apocalypse is, but you did say "before everything collapses", and talk about preserving knowledge. So I'm thinking big solar flare that destroys technology as we know it.
For an apocalypse, this is easy mode. Basically going back to like what, the 50s level of tech for most people. A lot of the world would also not even notice.
Get myself and all the people I care about to withdraw everything they can in cash, even taking out cash loans if possible. Build fereday (sp?) cages for all our stuff. Stock up on a few months worth of groceries and water, and we could probably ride that wave till things get fixed.
What's funny is most of the tech we use today peaked at around 1950s or in some instances much sooner. If we lost the internet, or majority of modern computers due to some disaster we wouldnt nessisarly go back to the stone ages.
We kind of already figured out how to make the best design for most technology that actually improves our lives. For fidges, dishwashers, radios, sewing machines, etc. Any little device you can think of has thousands of patents and been designed many many times over.
The only difference sense then is we learned how to manufacture things cheaper and with outsourced labor to be able to spread that technology to everyone. So that means is instead of a product that used to be made by professionals, all metal gears and parts; it now all gets made by the cheapest poccess possible. Arguably things are much worse.
Even computers, like for fuck sake it only took kilobytes of data to go to the moon. A 10 dollar esp 32 can take you to the moon if you knew what you where doing. Yet instead of making good products now we expected Moores law to carry us through bloatware like windows. Software as a service kept creeping in and consuming more power than nessisary. Most people only need to run a web browser, but windows needs 16gigs of ram to run 24/7 spyware on a device thats meant to only last 2-4 years.
Even noncomputer devices need computers in them for either the sake of DRM, SAaS, or planned obsolescence these days. So sadly in a event like a solar flare majority of the people would be sitting ducks.
I have always preached removing any internet of service device from your life as much as possible. Including cars. Sadly half the time that means you also have to learn how to repair or replace these things. Over the past 5-10 years ive been teaching myself on YouTube how to fix my own car, my own dishwasher, my phones, everything really. Mainly due to lack of expendable cash, but now it gives me some deeper meaning in some regards.
Faraday. π
It would be catastrophic around densly populated areas, and be easier but still hard for rural residents. It would be a while before the lights came back on.
Time for a nap, make something nice to eat, find an interesting book to read. After, have a wander through the garden. Maybe an extra nap, just to stock up. Spend some time with my loved ones. Probably another nap. Rinse and repeat until the end.
Call in sick and go fishing, spend time with my family at the creek.
Of that 72 hours I'm not wasting a minute to call in sick.
π€£ Fuck being polite
Gotta cover my bases just in case I was informed incorrectly.
That sound really uptight.
Maybe you should call in sick, you need a vacation. ;)
'revelation, disclosure'
It is "an unveiling or unfolding of things not previously known and which could not be known apart from the unveiling".
New shit?
Nah same shit.
Nothing new under the sun.
or Same shit different day.
Also faster, louder and dumber.
Peak pedo creep I guess...
I will go scatch my balls until the peeps have had enough.
Chirp Chirppin
This is it....
nah you will be gone in the blink of a eye...
Thank gawd all men die
That tired old song plays on and on.

Yah got me πͺ¦
I got a coupon for a dollar off
Nah that is a call to action and I call your bluff.
I would probably try out heroin. Been saving it for the end because if I need painkillers for health reasons, they would be more effective.
But that is assuming an apocalypse means collapse of "civilization". Imagine if you were a 1%er, and you had all the power and wealth in the world. wouldn't losing all that unearned power be an apocalypse for you, even though it would make everyone's lives better?
One person's apocalypse could very well be everyone's salvation.
Plan a hostile takeover of a Costco
everyone and their brother has this plan in mind so i hope for your sake that you have better luck than most. lol
Fingers crosses nobody else got a 72 hour heads up
Considering their placements are mostly in the suburbs, maybe it's best not to be the first ro a place where others w more guns also planning on going. Lol
Get all the grocery shopping done early and then sit back and watch the show unfold.
I'm disabled and lack community. I would do art until I succumb to the fate the eugenicists who designed my environment and society have arranged for me.
Rent an isolated cabin far out in the woods, buy anything I can think of that would help me last indefinitely out there, get enough supplies for the short term, then pack it all in the truck and gtfo with my cat in the passenger seat.
Try to get invited to some cool end of the world parties
Throw the party you want to see in the world.
sorry I'm already fully booked on Thursday. Friday is really a no and I have a bbq during the weekend. Can we move to early next week? Happy to touch base to find common ground and unleash synergies.
Oh, you're gonna unleash some synergies alright...
Op, do you know something???
I am so happy it will be over before my next rent payment. Its like Xmas and my birthday all in one!
1 day down to find out.
I mean, people seem to think the apocalypse would be survivable, but that's not how I understand it.
But for an impending survivable disaster, I'd get supplies and weapons and head to somewhere remote.
I'd go fishing with my dog.
are they good at it?
Ha ha. Don't know. They can just watch me and get excited if I get something. Or just get pets. A day of catching nothing is better than a day at work.
I'd just go out to a pub every day and night, and just drink. What else are you gonna do
Sex. Drugs. Also hug my family or whatever. But you don't even know them so that's probably not high on your list.
I already hugged your family because it was so high on my list
I also choose to hug this person's family.
What do you know?
WHAT DO TOU KNOW?
Also, I already have my own little library so I'm set on that end. I probably would just get get blitzed and enjoy myself with my husband those last three days.
I have books on everything from "doctoring where there is no doctor" to scavenging the local area to encyclopedias, etc.
My library is for the survivors. I harbor no delusion that I am likely to be among them. (And, in the mean time, I just like books.)
Without knowing what kind of apocalypse that may be a waste plenty of them where humans are extinct or even the whole planet destroyed.
The movie These Final Hours did a pretty good job of painting this picture.(spoiler: asteroid shockwave imminent)
And most comments here have covered the key plot ideas.
Apocalypse by default isn't survivable.
Probably I would try to enjoy the last 3 days and at the end I would repent because it would not hurt to cover all the bases.
If it would be survivable: I would not last long. Medical / vision / dental coverage is in short supply during the end of days.
Find a good fortress/ship with water and solar panels, download Wikipedia (annas archive), gather seeds and growing supplies, tools to fix stuff, duct tape: Realistically not happening.
I'd go see my closest family and open up the vintage wines we'd been saving for later
I'd get really excited, like what I'm going to wear?
