That's why you don't buy locked down shit like this. The good news is that we now have steamOS, and it's no longer really necessary
It would be really nice if at some point PS5s could get a second life as cheap Steam Machines or even desktop PCs. I surely wouldn't buy one now, but in a few years as a second hand purchase it would be nice to have Linux running on them properly. So it is quite sad to see someone skilled with making that happen leave like this.
