Except when they are shit and contain stuff such as #everyone_dies and #main_character_dies, like the default metadata source for Jellyfin and some torrent aggregators do.
Much of the issue is people getting lost in the sauce, but plenty is marketing. I'm also frustrated. Give a movie 3 tags, tops. Order of tags indicates how applicable they are. Glass onion is mystery, comedy, drama. Cable guy is comedy, horror, thriller. Airplane is comedy, comedy, comedy. It's not that hard!
If a movie tags itself as comedy three times I'm assuming it's shit lmao
i'm with you on this one. try searching for 'action movie' and you get the whole catalogue because apparently every movie has some action in it.
Assuming you are using a commercial service, the goal of those recommendations is not to serve you what you want to watch but to serve you what they want you to watch.
Same as it ever was. Maybe you're too young to have experienced the mess of p2p filesharing networks like Gnutella and KaZaA.
Limewire and Napster were my starting experience with p2p. It's been bad forever, but services like Netflix should be better
