yup. most things dont have this. try buying an audio book in another language other than english. heck just buying a reading book is hard enough. or getting one that is both without having to buy it twice or not available in both.

I just bought a recent ebook on Kobo. Two listings for different prices with EVERYTHING on the listing identical except the more expensive one had 2 authors. I had to look up separately that the second author is actually a translator and the more expensive book was a translation. The store listing didn't even have the language! I had to guess by the ethnicity of the translator's name 🤦🤦🤦

I think there is an account setting to discourage results based on your location. But my google is set to English, that probably also helps

I VPN to a country whose language I know nothing about and have literally never had this problem.

I use it to make life harder for anyone trying to collect my data out of sheer spite.

google ties that setting to your account. you have to sign-in.

[–] Zensate@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah good luck making changing that work

sign-in and change it here for your account, applies while signed in to all google sites:
https://myaccount.google.com/language

or don't sign-in, change it for search only.
https://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en&lang=1&prev=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fpreferences%3Fhl%3Den
this likely uses cookies so it would reset if you clear the one(s) that contain search preferences. the settings link that is actually on google's home page does take you to this.
