I didn't realize it ever was considered a winter virus? I thought that's what made it so dangerous, is that it wouldn't cycle like the flu does.

rule #1: be kind
It cycles seasonally, but it's for social reasons. It cycles in the winter because of holiday traveling spreading local outbreaks, and back-to-school season when all the kids go back to be concentrated in 1 place.
Back to school is also why there's a back to school bump.
Winter also has people more concentrated 8ndoors in colder climates, and summer does the same in hot areas. Texas had a HUGE outbreak a month ago because everyone was huddled indoors to get out of the heat while the kids were bringing it home from school.
My doctor said it's like an every 2 month flu virus. Or like it just comes by waves (when the virus have changed enough to get at us again).
Also same here, who thought it was a "winter" virus??
Trump, as always, and his rather infamous "it'll go away by April" claim.
We could've actually had an article and thread without that name but you had to bring him into it.
Sorry.
It never has been just a winter virus, its still wave after wave and doesn't seem particularly interested in a pattern. There has for a few years been a vague summer and winter pattern but then this year its mostly just hit a wave in Autumn. Its still doing its pandemic thing with new variants, immune waning and events being the driving force of new waves.
People are just inside more and closer together in the winter. Since work places don't want people staying home when sick, and most people are too big of assholes to wear a mask when sick, it spreads
Well I've caught it twice. Both during summer time. So, uh, duh.
