The only time I've had a frayed USB cable was from when I'd be rotting in bed on my phone with it plugged in. Cutting that down solved that problem. These days it feels like it's the connector itself that needs to be meticulously cleaned and cared for because they only work for a few hundred cycles.

My cellphone doesnt even have the audio quality of an old landline...
Because you want it to fit in a small pocket, not take half the space in your backpack.
Take your usb cable, wrap it around something round of the size of curl you want and hit it with hot air, being careful not to melt it.
You will achieve the springy tangly mess in the picture. Your cable will now be 2/3 or less of the straight length
What were those cords even made of? Fucking mithril?
Because I'd rather have the cable die than some super-ruggedised cable with the flexibility of a pencil break the port.
OK interesting discussion BUT NOT IF THE EXAMPLE IS A FUCKING LIGHTING CABEL!!!
More shit inside that shouldn't be bent maybe?
its braided copper covered in plastic insulation, it's just that apple cables are garbage
That old cord had lead in it. Newer regulations require different materials.
Also the plastic was made from cancer. Like pure 100% distilled cancer in plastic form.
I feel like it wouldn't really be that hard to do. Just do the coily cable thing. It's the same reason why springs are coils.
