Absolutely hilarious. Imagine fleeing a country because of their agenda to push acceptance and respect, and then being astonished that the country you fled to treats you like the piece of shit you are.

Moving to Russia to escape racism is really the biggest self-own ever.

I actually support all these people moving to Russia. It might be somewhat Darwinian but solves a bunch of issues.

I kinda get why tankies would defend China (CCP is still ostensibly Communist), but why Russia?? it's literally a kleptocratic oligarchy led by a billionaire dictator/mob boss. ain't nothing Soviet about it.

I plan to, actually. I don't support CCP at all - it's authoritarian as fuck, with the Great Firewall, the reeducation camps in Xinjiang and the annexation of Tibet - but it's fascinating to me that the country hasn't completely collapsed into corruption like so many autocracies, and that they do so much long-term planning.
my impression is that China is a hybrid of state capitalism and central planning, with a lot of poor rural areas and a moderate oligarchy, but that they see billionaires as political rivals (e.g. Jack Ma) and Gilded Age economic inequality as a risk of social unrest and keep it from getting as out of hand as the US.
I used to think there was more to it, but it really is as simple as "They're the enemy of the west? Then all of the horrible things they do must be western propoganda, and their own state media is 100% truthful! Woo! You go Russia! De-nazify Ukraine!"
That they are allies with China and North Korea probably helps further legitimize that belief.
It also really helps that any information about those countries that conflicts with their preexisting views is immediately rejected as propoganda, no matter the validity of the information. Similar to a cult.
I think there is a little more to it, namely that a lot of "tankies" are just Russians who haven't let go.
Why are all these "communists" hard-line vatniks? Because that's who they've always been.
Or are paid to pretend they haven't changed anyways, you look at tankie communities and they're just pasting the feed from RT into their news communities half the time.
I'm sure that explains some of them, but a good amount of tankies are people who grew up and live in the west, with no real connection to Russia other than their texts glorifying the USSR.
In their case, I think when they began to become disillusioned with western governments, they unfortunately hadn't developed enough skill in critically investigating sources of information that is critical of capitalism, and more importantly, become involved in a ML group, which gave them a sense of belonging.
Unfortunately, most ML groups require a continued belief in their selected holy texts and approved histories to continue participation in the group, much like a cult. This is a tremendous motivator to ignore credible information critical of the group's core texts, as no one wants to lose access to their tribe, or lose their friends by being branded a traitor who fell for the 'shitlib' propaganda, thus become an ostracized 'shitlib' themselves.

They had this same problem in the Soviet era, when part of the propaganda was about racist Americans were (true) and how good Marxists aren't (true, but what's that got to do with the average Russian?)
Long story short the African immigrants/students had a hell of a time even when the Soviet state was trying to turn them into a propaganda tool.

Tbf to the Soviets, even the article mentions that they DID try to keep a lid on things, and racial violence exploded after the collapse.

Sadly, I don't think many actually did. I remember the article about the giy being drafted and it said they moved based off another group recruiting people and they were only like 1 family of 2 or 3 to do so and it was a complete failure. I wish they all left.

As someone who has been white and living in the U.S. his whole life, I've never had someone suggest I'm racist based on the color of my skin, at least not to my face (I can't say what folks say behind my back).
I wonder if the Huffmans were being accused of racism because of their racism rather than merely because of the color of their skin.
They might be right regarding not having the same opportunities, because based on what I've heard others have gone through, it's clear to me that I've had it much better than the average minority.
There's the whole thing where if you're white, even if you're not a bigot, you benefit from systemic racism and a bunch of stupid motherfuckers unable or unwilling to think twist that into "all white people are racist."
But in my experience the venn diagram between those people and bigots that don't like being called out is a circle.
Edit: To be completely fair, I have occasionally seen (in print, never in person) the opinion that benefiting from systemic racism makes all white people racist, even if they don't act or think in any bigoted ways, even if they're actively anti-racist. But I always assumed those brain-dead takes would be rejected out of hand by any reasonable person, and certainly not lead someone to think the culture in general labels them as a racist just for being white. But I wouldn't be surprised to learn those articles, or whatever, were boosted in racist spaces to feed their bullshit about "white oppression."

Even Warren Buffett has pointed this out, when asked why he managed to be so wealthy, he said (paraphrasing) there was a lot of luck at the start, being born in The US, being white and being a man that made it easer then for lots of others.
I think it was also pointed out by Michael Oppenheimer that he was not at all concered with studying Einstein's brain but really concerd the next one was slaving away in some field somewhere in a developing nation, with zero opportunity.
