Locked for rule 5.
Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Increasing knowledge increases sorrow. You’ve been warned. This data is more appealing than satisfying, so proceed with caution. Basically an infohazard, IMO.
I've only ever gotten an error message when using this, both on mobile (Mlem) and desktop. What am I doing wrong??
Because you can see the same comment from many different Lemmy websites, there are many different links that point to the same comment. The website only accepts links from the same instance as the comment author.
On desktop, you can get this link by clicking this button:
Bu default, links copied within Mlem will be from your instance, not the author's instance. You can customize this behavior by going to the Settings tab -> Media & Links -> Share Links.
Selecting "original instance" will cause all links you copy to be the ones that Lemvotes requires.
Thank you!
Thanks. I love to know. Especially if there's a few repeat names on there.
No problem!
There could be repeat down voters, but that’s not even the most disturbing thing the data can reveal.
What's the most disturbing thing?
It's Glarb the Reviler, isn't it? Waiting eternally just on the other side of time? Dang.
So far, I’ve found that there are many people whose purpose in life seems to be to downvote stuff. Maybe they are professional downvoters, who know. Maybe I would have found even darker tends, but I just stopped looking at that point. Most likely, you’ll also find people who target specific users, themes and communities if you just look long enough. Lemvotes is a pathway to many discoveries some consider to be unnatural.
Haha yes, I was looking at some profiles because I was wondering who the fuck down votes stuff in arts and crafts communities.
I mean I downvote the opposites of my kinks if they show up in places they aren't supposed to. But usually if it's a community for something I don't want to see i block the community.
Oh?
Thanks!!
The first few minutes will interesting. After that, a more disturbing image begins to emerge, which starts to gradually erode your faith in humanity. Eventually, you start hating the data, which will hopefully result in a rage quit. Consider that a beneficial reaction that protects your mental wellbeing. If that doesn’t happen, there’s a risk of developing an unhealthy relationship with the data.
Let me know how it worked out.
The fediverse claim to respect privacy while allowing such tools to allow people to downvote vengence
It seems incredibly fucked up to me that this information is available.
Why? There's nothing compelling you to vote on a post if you fear you may face some sort of repercussion from it.
Keep in mind, misclicks happen often, also other users don't owe you an explanation on why they downvoted. It could be because they thought it was AI/fake.
Or, in the case of this post, its probably because it's rulebreaking.
I knew it!
Or probably they hate your cat and think it's ugly.
I think you're ugly
This one takes offences to such claims.
You can enter links of posts, comments or user profiles at lemvotes and will then see the up and down votes
Thank you :3
