What was the reason though? Personally I never used Reddit. So I don't know about them
Memes
Rules:
- Be civil and nice.
- Try not to excessively repost, as a rule of thumb, wait at least 2 months to do it if you have to.
I can’t believe they banned me for what they banned me for too. After 16 years on the platform. Fuck em
Reddit really testing the limits of Dead Internet Theory
And in the end it wasn't even really anything I said as much as the autoflag got my ass for posting on a temp account in a sub that banned my main account. Caught a perma ban for all my accounts with that shit.
All because I originally said I hoped Elon overd*sed. (don't wanna be banned from here too so censor it is.) They're especially sensitive to that one in the Vancouver subreddit I guess for obvious reasons if you know about Vancouver.
Yeah, of course... spez hates discussion of supposedly committing violence by anyone from center to left.
It does not help that they're using AI-assisted profiling, information used by both mods and site admins to determine the number of strikes to ban users.
I got banned in a subreddit because I said FB dude got a penis transplant from a rat
I got banned for telling a legit Nazi to fuck himself up the ass with a cactus, no lube.
Banned for threatening violence and hate speech apparently.
Yeah, my initial main account ban was because I said "if you try to have a monkey as a pet, you deserve to be bitten by it" on a video of a guy who had a monkey ripping shit up in his apartment and that bites him on the hand at one point.
That apparently counts as inciting violence rather than y'know implying that people shouldn't own fucking monkeys which I felt was pretty clear given the context.
Evidently my angry sounding unban request was not well received.
Welcome brother! Or sister... Or non-binary memelord... Uwu....
Lost track of my reddit bans. Really lost track of my subreddit bans. I really stacked them up late 2023.
Maybe it's just me, but no matter what the ban was for (I'm very aware Reddit is going ban-crazy and has just been shit in general,) I feel it's a bad omen that one community (connected communities, fediverse, what have you) is being largely inhabited by people banned from other communities.
When the width and breath of censorship is so wide that virtually everyone gets caught in the dragnet?
reddit bans people for saying things like "isreal shouldn't be genociding the gazans"
That's what got me banned.
I don't disagree, but it depends on the reason. Getting banned for calling out Zionism, or for being a leftist in general? Great! Come to Lemmy!
You don't even need to say something, just become a "security risk" to them by using uBlock Origin to block their trackers. In other words, how I personally got banned. Anyway, welcome to Lemmy!
My bans came from me saying that Israel is committing genocide and that Netenyahu needs to be tried and hanged for his crimes.
Welcome to the family! There are literally 10s of us!
Yeah it's gotten bad on reddit
Subreddit mods cannot ban you from Reddit entirely, just their subreddit
They can and do flag and report accounts to an AI assisted administration that will casually permaban whole communities on a whim.
Oh it definitely can get you an entire reddit ban. Not from them directly but you can be autoflagged as attempting to ban evade if you post in that sub again from a new account. That's how I got got.
accounts still get banned for (at least for me) supporting Palestine.
my ban was due to a comment in a post about some zio settler going into a Palestinian field to remove a Palestinian flag from Palestinian territory, it was boobie trapped and the video showed him as a red mist.
I wrote a long paragraph about the danger of boobie traps and who they are war crimes. but also that zio has a absolutely no right to complain. Banned for supporting violence.
Hey, hope you enjoy! Been here a couple years myself and enjoy it a lot more than Reddit, though I was never banned from it.
I got perm banned for saying on a post about Nazis in South Dakota gathered on the Capitol steps, I said I was in the mood to punch some Nazis in the face. Reddit can suck it.
I got banned for "threatening violence" for joking that Ryan Routh should get some help aiming for the neck from Tyler James Robinson.
No sense of humor...
You might wanna try out the sorting "scaled" when browsing "all" to find new communities (or check out every c/newcommunity that interests you)
But warning: scaled in all can have a lot of porn if you have nsfw on
Thanks for the... the warning.
You can also just use an instance that defederates from porn, so NSFW can just be for shocking or otherwise violent things.
mfw people think lemmy is a free safe space until they discover the biggest instance admins are mostly intolerant, impulsive manchilds UwU
I got banned for calling an antivaxxer a waste of oxygen :3
Well, statistically they'll use less oxygen than the rest of us, to be fair.
I got a 3-day ban recently for a call to action and plea to arm up and overthrow Trump. (Something along the lines of "We should do as some of our founding fathers intended and arm ourselves to deal with this tyranny")
Tried to get that point across to someone and they thought it was about how guns are used in self defense. How i learned there was a sub dedicated to cheering people shooting others in the name of self defense
Reddit: By Bots; For Bots.
What got you banned? I said mean things about Elon Musk.
I got banned for saying in a Captain America thread that I’d love to see a version of the classic Captain America comic book cover where Cap punches Trump intead of Hitler.
I was apparently inciting violence.
Praise the fediverse!
Reddit is such a weird place. A lot of left-leaning people are still on there, even though spez worships Elon and even named Elon as the "inspiration" for all the stupid shit he did to Reddit.
As am I. Apparently the Zionists subreddit mods don't like it when you compare Israeli propaganda to Nazi propaganda.
Same for the comm mods here
You’re not supposed to compare apples to other very similar apples. It upsets people.
i like the type of person coming here because of that. welcome to lemmy, we have memes too.
Reddit is nearly 100% AI bots these days on the popular subs. You're good to get away. The interface over here is shite and takes forever to figure out, but the people are nice.
It's not really that much better here. People jumping the gun constantly.
Depends on the instance really.
