Meriwether Farms @MeriwetherFarms Oct 20

Dear @POTUS Trump,

We love you and support you— but your suggestion to buy beef from Argentina to stabilize beef prices would be an absolute betrayal to the American cattle rancher.

We understand there are larger economic and geopolitical dynamics at play, including countering CCP influence in countries in our hemisphere. But the practice of solving problems “over there” before solving problems here on our soil is what contributed to the downfall of our country: Americans always come last.

We understand beef prices are high, and we admire your concern for all Americans, but this is not the fault of the American producer. This is the fault of politicians who have allowed BRICS-aligned entities to dominate the meat industry, that participate in price fixing and who also continually lie to their consumers.

Washington for decades has facilitated the squeezing of our own ranchers while allowing these entities to flood the market with cheaper, lower-quality imports -- and the American people don't even know these products are foreign because they are allowed to be marked as “Product of the USA”.

On top of all this—there is only chaos coming from the Department of Agriculture. There is no true guidance, mixed messaging, and a copious amount of photo ops. There is no one to trust over there that truly understands the issues and isn’t bought out by or aligned with Big Industries.

The American cattle rancher is one of the last symbols of independence we have in the nation—but the continued manipulation and betrayal by the very people who claim to support them, needs to end immediately. While only representing 1% of the population, the work is tireless, daily, in poor conditions, with low margins, without thanks— all in order to keep this country fed. We would be a failed nation if we continue to betray the very people who put food on the table for us. There are so many voices on the outside that support you and want to see you succeed. Maybe it’s time to start listening to them. Your team knows how to get in touch with us.

Sincerely, Meriwether Farms

Ah Argentina, the country Trump gave 40 billion to. America First apparently.

So, better labelling and point of origin laws, an open and free market and let customers decide ?

We love you and support you

Well, you lost me there

"Dear Trump, gawk gawk gawk gawk gawk weee gaw gawk love you ughhhh cum in my throat fascist daddy even though gawk gawk gawk you fucking hate us gawk gawk gawk jehshshsysuuuuuhnnnnnnn

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago

These idiot farmers still think trump is on their side. trump only cares about money and himself, nothing else. we've all had to deal with trumps bullshit for nearly a decade now, and these slow learners still haven't figured it out yet.

[–] Calabast@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 day ago

We would be a failed nation if we continue to betray the very people who put food on the table for us.

Lol, so are they also protesting the actions of ICE? Oh, they're not? Hmmm, weird....

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 123 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We love you and support you.

Well, there's your problem. Until you fix that, I think I'm going to just disregard the rest of those words you wrote.

[–] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

For some god damned reason I read them. Its well explained point of corporations aligning with politicians to outsource everything in search of wider profit margins, leaving our own industries to atrophy.

But yeah they voted for this, so, fuck em.

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You know, I really wouldn't say fuck 'em if they weren't showing with their first six words that they have learned absolutely fucking nothing - and in my way of seeing things, people who refuse to learn have nothing to teach me.

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Their whole identity is tied to tRump and MAGA. To admit he is anything less than omnipotent is to lose themselves and their identity. It's why you'd have better luck breaking people of this hold by not conflating their decision making with his actions, instead pointing out how his actions are hurting all of us.

[–] navi@lemmy.tespia.org 12 points 2 days ago

Appeasing Strong Men never works out. Proactive bowing down just causes you to hurt first.

Argentina Beef, now with free prions included!

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

"We love and support you" pretty sure that's sarcastic.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They're not. They're major Trump dickriders and use LEFTIST and woke unironically.

[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Wow, that's the intellectual level of my idiot schoolmates or plants. Eh, not much of a difference.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

If it's a real Trumper, it's sincere.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 98 points 2 days ago

We understand

No the fuck you don't.

Any other politician throughout modern political history would have their disappointed voters start something like this with "I voted for you but..."

I know I'm not saying what hasn't been said a million times by now but it's just so fucking weird.

The president isn't your child. You don't need to show them unconditional love. You're allowed to criticise them without prefacing that you still love them.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The president isn’t your child.

Maybe not yours, but he is a child.

[–] zabadoh@ani.social 4 points 1 day ago

If you mean, by "a child", the Antichrist, then yes.

[–] kewjo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

no politicians i can think of only cult leaders

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The fact that they still love him shows that they are not any smarter than their livestock. Those cows happily follow their master to the slaughterhouse.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

^ This analogy is sound.

[–] ConstantPain@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The"influence of CCP" tells everything about how badly informed and alienated americans are...

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

China literally does own Smithfield farms, which is a massive pork producer for the US. And yes the CCP is not just minding its own business, they do a lot of shady shit.

Two things can be right, leopards are fat at this point on maga idiots, and china does a lot of shady shit in foreign countries, not just the USA.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Just a reminder lemmy has alot of CCP shills.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I haven't seen a single person unequivocally praise the CCP.

[–] edible_funk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Mostly Russia dickriders that I've seen, but there's plenty of pro China propaganda on here, usually cultural and economic.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

you will run into it eventually.

...i am voting for the face-eating-leopard party...why are these leopards eating my face?..

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Apparently Meriwether Farms was started by Catharine O’Neill Gillihan who was a member of the State Department and USAID under Trump in his first term.

[–] notsure@fedia.io 2 points 1 day ago

...buying beef from Argentina, why on earth...?

[–] notsure@fedia.io 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

...those idiots in the streets have been screaming about the leopards for years, but i was not affected...

Well when all is said and done I know to never buy from Meriwether Farms again. I love when these fascist supporters own businesses I can boycott.

Edit: lmao, apparently Meriwether Farms is owned by Catharine O'Neill Gillihan who was a member of Trump's State Department and USAID in his first term. This hog was especially delicious for the leopards.

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Sorry Trump and his administration probably can't read, have you tried appealing to them with AI videos?

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Could modify the one where he's flying over and dumping shit, but when it cuts to the people they are farmers and ranchers.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago (3 children)

"We love you and support you."

Americans are not real people.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it helps, Catharine O’Neill Gillihan was who wrote this and she was in Trump's State Department and USAID in his first term.

You love your president? Like love love? Gross. Simp. It's giving beta male.

[–] glorkon@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I know, Godwin's law, yada yada.

But I still feel I can compare Trump to Hitler, I'm German after all. Trump is a demagogue, Hitler was a demagogue. Both check all the boxes (see this list).

And to me, this message sounds just as bizarre as "Dear Führer, we love you and support you, but we think the war you wage on the world will ultimately destroy us all."

Has any real human being ever said, truthfully, that they "love" a politician they have never met? That's fuckin weird. But yeah... Trumpers.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

According to WH insiders they calculated the loss of ranchers (and even outrage from them) against the general public's concern for beef prices, and the public won out. It'd almost be a win in a normal world except 1) the ranchers are hard hit right now and 2) he's only doing this ONE thing because it's a bellweather he's getting attacked on. "Beef are the new eggs."

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 day ago

"would"...

He already betrayed them...

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 15 points 2 days ago (4 children)

the American people don't even know these products are foreign because they are allowed to be marked as “Product of the USA”.

That can't be true, right?

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why wouldn't it be? Probably some game like importing a side of beef and cutting it up in the US, poof "Product of America"

ChatGPT is about to have a feast of ‘obsequious pleading’ genre to train on.

[–] obsoleteacct@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 days ago

"We're a symbol of independence... Also feed me more boot please!" These people deserve every single thing they're getting.

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

A handful of multinational processors—most notably Brazil’s JBS USA (a subsidiary of JBS S.A.), Brazil‑based Marfrig and Minerva, and China‑owned WH Group (owner of Smithfield Foods)—control roughly half of U.S. beef‑packing capacity.

Two Brazilian companies and a Chinese company. Really odd to refer to that as 'BRICS aligned' whatever that means in this context.
