Trump: "if you want to do business with the US you will have to pay the tariffs"

The world: "OK."

Trump: "But I was promised you needed US?"

World: "No, it was just convenience."

That's not how tariffs work, it's the USians paying and the tariffs go to the US government ('it's not taxes', said like Arnie Shwarzenegger going 'it's not a tumor'). World still going OK, but chuckling if they know. Every TACO 100% tariff is US inflation.

Tarrifs still put trading partners at a disadvantage because it becomes cheaper to source from non-tarrifed countries.

Aye, see also sanctions (not the same, but similar), still paid by the tariffing country

Surprisingly accurate for an insult that sounds random.

Is trump smarter than we gave him credit? It looks as if the tariffs are to intentionally harm us rather than raise funds or did he really believe tariffs would boost economy? I really can't tell, either way it's benefiting him

thia headline is very misleading 2024 was the only year where us overtook china. also, this is due to a strong euro, exports to china and US both fell. Should've developed EVs 10 years ago imo
