Just random words generator

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

True vibemaxxers would be asking ChatGPT to generate prompts for them

That word reminds me of the tweakers (forgot the name) in cyberpunk who put more and more machines in their body until they snapped and went on a killing spree.

Cyberpsychosis

an AI that makes intrusive thoughts for you?

[–] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Suno is already dead anyway... they made a deal with Warner and this happened:

Which I predicted in my essay about AI and IP but I would just be tooting my own horn (pardon the pun). More notably they spend a lot of time talking about the download options so you get distracted from the actual news, that they are retiring the "current" models (4.5 and 5, their current top of the line) to make way for licensed models, which means exactly what you think it means - I'll make a post about it actually because this is kinda big.

paying for music made by a computer...damn, we'll have to crack suno to pirate music made by an AI?

[–] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 months ago

We'll make mixtapes like in the old days except instead of recording the radio we'll be recording our speakers

Make it idiot proof and they just build a bigger idiot.

Its actually physics. The human body adapts to the conditions it is put in. If you dont need to fight to survive, you lose that skill. If you dont have to think...

Plato said the written word would kill thinking, when the printing press came about that would kill thinking, when the internet became a thing that would kill thinking. No this isnt going to kill thinking

Also even if it would (agian it wont) wrong feild of science this would be a biology or psychology not physics.

Good point. I think there is dialectics employable here.

I think plato was right, just not in the way we understand it right now. Maybe even not as he meant it, which I would need to read some of his works for.

I think the synthesis of our points is "it takes out the need of certain ways of thinking and frees up capacity which can be employed elsewere."

Example: i think it is clear that in the past, every human knew how to hunt or which berries to collect for example, more or less. Otherwise they were dead. We lost that skill and in the woods, we would probably have a bad time.

I think the written word abstracted thinking, not killed it. Where there was sounds there now are syllables. Think about it. We (or its what i assume) think in written words, not in sounds. This probably changed how we perceive sound and words and maybe we lost some depth in that field.

Same goes for chatbots who do our critical thinking now. It would have dire consequences indeed. But otherwise, if employed correctly, we could build something (and we lilely will arrive there at some point) that frees up brainpower. But it will likely be capitalism that needs to go to free out braincapacity since that is where we are constantly under threat.

Anyhow, I hope this sheds some light on how i view this.

The most creatively bankrupt individual of all time insisting on ‘creating’ music.

[–] haui@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 months ago

A chain of thought:

Its a contradiction in itself. Pro ai communists see it as a strong tool, contra ai communists see it as a huge money laundering and move capital upward machine. Non communist pro ai think it is god and non communist contra think it is the devil incarnate.

While the first are both correct, the latter just moralize.

The fundamental truth is that without creativity as a skill, one will never create good things by themselves, which is mostly the fault of capitalism because the person exists in their material conditions.

This leads to them thinking that they are both supposed to and entitled to be creative while they are actually unable to, in this situation, for whatever reason. Under capitalism: creativity = attention = success. None of these should be connected.

AI therefore still has big potential as china shows every day but it is utterly useless in the hand of the capitalists as they lack a system that enables it being actually useful.

The best example for good ai use in the west is red creators network on youtube imo.

You ever think, "Gee what if this computer could just do all my thinking for me, and I never had to think about a single thing ever again?"

[–] ComradePupIvy@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 months ago

I feel like that is disengenuous for what is being said. I agree the question is silly when you think about it outside of the context, but what the user wants is for music he likes and doesn't want to think about it. Essentially he wants Radio without the adds, and I dont think that should be conflaited with he doesn't want to think anymore.

He got cought in a train of thought and failied to consider other options.

“I need AI to help me use AI”

I’m eager for the world ending meteor or whatever…

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

I saw this post shared on a generally "pro-AI" page (as in they're cautiously optimistic about AI and its impact on the world, for some reason) and even THEY were dunking on it.

"I'm sick of doing the only thing I'm contributing to AI slop music, please help me so I don't even have to think please?"
