Summary

60 Minutes plans to enrage Donald Trump Sunday with an episode bashing his intimidation efforts—despite being in a legal battle with the president themselves.

“Now in the White House, Trump is using executive orders to target some of the biggest law firms in the country that he accuses of ‘weaponizing’ the justice system against him.”

The drama between Donald Trump and CBS has heated up in recent weeks after the show’s executive producer, Bill Owens, abruptly quit after 37 years, accusing CBS executives of interfering with the program and pandering to Trump amid his $20 billion lawsuit.

CBS and Trump’s settlement discussions have taken place as Paramount Global seeks the president’s approval of its merger with Skydance, an American media production company.

Just about nothing would make me happier than to have him not wake up ever again. A complete disgrace to America and the world. May he die painfully and soon.

[–] ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world 72 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I guess that's one thing we have going for us. Unlike Hitler, this fascist fuck is old.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 76 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Hitler has at least one good thing going for him: he killed Hitler.

My sister-in-law, the chillest and least likely person I know to ever say this, actually wished death on Trump the other day. He's done so much global damage, and it hasn't even been a year.

He's an actual scourge.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yep. Fuck every single person who ever told us that Trump wasn't as bad as others. Even if technically hasn't done as wrong as others, the trend he's setting in motion is by far the worst thing to have happened in world history if it continues

[–] raoulduke85@lemm.ee 10 points 4 days ago

It’s a common thing. My mother and sister who always preach non violence, have lately been saying how someone needs to raise money to have cult 47 pewpewed.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 5 points 4 days ago

Every time I see him making a public speech, I keep my fingers crossed, and wish for his head to explode from a high caliber bullet.

Same with all of his henchmen.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

In terms of total global damage, I'm not sure if Trump can hold a candle to Putin.

Though the two are cut from the same cloth.

The horn on my truck will also die that day from overuse as I drive through this backwards-ass bumfuck low-IQ confederate county blaring it from end to end for hours.

[–] SuperEars@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

We might make new friends on the road that day.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 5 days ago

I will rejoice when I learn of his death. No fucking cap.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 16 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It should become a national holiday like 4/20. Or we can all choose never to speak his name again. "He who shall not be named"

I personally wish for his tortured death every day of my life

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 13 points 4 days ago

He’s got the dementia going pretty hard now, with the MS13 tattoo and the Harvard / Harlem confusion thing within just a few days.

[–] peregrin5@lemm.ee 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I wouldn't be sad if someone created a large campfire where he, Elon, McConnell, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Green, etc. are the logs.

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 3 points 3 days ago

A very sloooow burn.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 days ago

May he die alone, clutching his chest while crying out for a Big Mac and Diet Coke; his only loved ones.

So now we are reporting about how Donald Trump is going to feel about an upcoming report?

Fuck's sake....

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It also doesn't make sense. To make Trump angry all you need to do is tell the truth. Just state facts and he'll be tweeting up shitstorm at 3am.

It's all part of the facade at this point. America is already a failed state to all that aren't being brainwashed by it.

Drumple Thin-Skin has a meltdown over everything. This is like saying tomorrow is going to happen.

Weak. And old.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Love "Drumple Thin-Skin," so I'll be stealing that

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

It's a popular one. I use Trumplethinskin myself but with that spelling instead.

[–] sarcasticsunrise@lemmy.world 63 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If it can infuriate him into a massive coronary, job well done then

[–] andallthat@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

nah, Trump is a rage-powered sack of IOUs badly arranged to resemble a real human being. If you want to get rid of Trump, you have to try to delight him and remove his power source. All of his cabinet and several world leaders are trying more an more openly to kill him this way. The true unsung heroes of our time!

The fact that even publications like this are saying things like “the president’s approval” now is part of the problem. The president is supposed to have no part in that decision making process. It’s the FCC and the FTC that have a say and they are supposed to be politically insulated.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Agencies soon to be replaced by Elon Musk's Grok and a group of 17-year-olds with punisher skull stickers on their macbooks.

‘weaponizing’ the justice system against him.”

It's always projection with him.

[–] nickiwest@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

With Republicans in general, I think. It seems to be their best attempt at misdirection, and I think it works to keep their target audience from paying attention to their least savory activities.

Everyone says it's projection but it never is.

They genuinely think it's weaponised because they lose in court and think they shouldn't have. They think brown people are inferior so DEI means they're undeserving... It's not projection. It's that they think all the good and normal things we do are an attack because where they come from their views are normal and they think they're good people so any resistance means the courts are being weaponised and they're under attack

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 44 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I hope it literally gives him a stroke.

The drama between Donald Trump and CBS has heated up in recent weeks after the show’s executive producer, Bill Owens, abruptly quit after 37 years, accusing CBS executives of interfering with the program and pandering to Trump amid his $20 billion lawsuit.

Is this their last act of true journalism before the CBS executives rein them in?

[–] errer@lemmy.world 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Paramount’s CEO kills the segment in 3…2…1…

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yep they shouldn't have talked about it, just air it.

[–] hypna@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Nah this is 60 minutes putting pressure on their new handlers to not squash the segment. Now everyone knows it's coming, and if it doesn't air people will notice. I think it's a wise move.

[–] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 13 points 4 days ago

Oh wow they're following popular opinion

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Good to see from 60 Minutes.

[–] liverbe@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

I won't hold my breath. CBS did a piece a few months ago on the Israeli settlements that was entirely one-sided: https://youtu.be/dcyLW5gUEtY

[–] ToiletFlushShowerScream@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sorry, CBS executives have bent the knee to the traitors, there is no way they will allow anything embarrassing on the air. Daily Beast is delusional and will say anything to get the clicks of Americans who have lost faith in their country.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This is the KGB handbook in effect.

Spend enough time amplifying the loudest, worst takes on both sides of any and every social and political issue, and eventually nobody knows what's real, everyone is exhausted with the contention, and people just tune out and default to believing whatever the state tells them is real, because the alternative is time-consuming research, and people rarely read news past the headlines.

We've been sabotaged and have the receipts, yet I still get angry leftists and liberals scolding me that this is conspiratorial nonsense, and it's "problematic" to try to pin all our social issues on Russia.

And they're right, it's not just Russia. It was also North Korea, Iran, China, and probably a thousand different smaller groups for assorted agendas.

But nobody wants to admit how vulnerable they are not just to misinformation, but the ancillary effects of a misinformation climate.

[–] DicJacobus@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Im waiting for the V for Vendetta moment where a media personality gets arrested by a swarm of feds for making fun of dear leader

[–] ABetterTomorrow@lemm.ee 15 points 4 days ago

You mean 60m is going to do their job?

[–] ristoril_zip@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

People know what 60 Minutes is.

They don't know what Skydance is, and definitely don't care about it (that's not necessarily 'good').

They sort of know what Paramount is, from movie title sequences, but they don't care about it more than any other movie production company. (Again that's not necessarily 'good.')

Going public like this is a great answer to Trump's bullying.

This reminds me when big tobacco tried to muzzle them. It almost succeeded, and 60 mins, in the end, did pull their punch.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

Sure, but let's be real that doesn't take much

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Infuriating Trump will take less than 60 seconds.
