My local jail removed the library a decade ago. Regular inmates only have access to tablets for media, that they must pay for. Only people kept in the SHU/on punishment, who are denied their tablets, are given physical books, and the selection is trash. Like it's a singular cart that is rolled around. If you have a contact with someone there, I would trust them, but if your area has a non-profit that works with the jail, you could get an unbiased take by talking to that person.

Are these the words you meant to type?
How are all your posts like this... how are you a nurse???
I'm really doubting that they have read any of those books.
No I haven't read anyone of the books. I just want to start a good library for the prisoners so they have something to do besides fight or give guards grief. And if this goes well would like to start a GED program.
Please read some of the books before you give them away. You have a fair bit to learn about the English language before you should consider teaching it.
Lol, why the elitism here? It doesn't seem like OP is trying to do anything bad.
This is crazy
A:: I am a nurse. B: Used to be way worse and signing up for contracts that pay the most like 96 hour shifts. Sometimes I get bored and just like to toss in a subject out or question so I can read the replies. And usually not on a laptop or computer. II guess you call me a fisherwoman to reel in replies. Some are very inciteful some our stupid but everytime there is just one that I save so I can read it over and over again to kill time.
Are you asking if there is a legitimate library or stock kept, if so not in my experience. More of a there are books over there outside the cell area that you can gain access too to grab a book with supervision. They weren't set up with spines facing out or anything, just a table, with some books stacked at the back. I'm sure they were different outside every cell block. (And that was the good behavior block that allowed people to leave to do work during the weekdays)
Kinda. They keep roadblocking me from even have a look into what I am spending my spare time and effort for. My brother was their about 2 years ago and the only books they had were a tiny cart of law books that you could only access at about midnight for 15 minutes.
You have the answer to your question right there. They won't let you look at it because they don't have one and are not at all interested in having one.
Prisons in the US are intended to punish people, not rehabilitate them. If you actually want change you'll likely need to petition the governor or state representatives to sponsor legislation to make properly stocked libraries a requirement.
But good luck because that would be "being soft on crime" which is political suicide in many places.
