Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

It’ll be the progressive that gets elected to preside over the decline. Once we’ve been bled dry and the other nation(s) take the world lead, like China.

And they'll worship trump like they currently do Reagan. Forgetting all the shit he caused and blame whoever is head of state regardless of their decisions.

America is going to collapse. Start having faith in self and building a community that has a foundation that isn't using and abusing you.

This is more of a thought and a note to myself. It started out as sarcasm but I don't think it really is. The more I detox from American pop culture the more real authentic and honest life seems to be. It's like I have been lied to my entire life about truth and freedom.

Remember that guy before Trump? Dunno about progressive, but he was young.

Not for a while, but that door is going to swing back the other way so hard it'll damn near come off the hinges. Then back the other way it'll go. The 1% thrives on our division.

We're in the grip of corporate control and we're not seeing light till that's resolved. I think eventually it'll happen though, whether it is through regulation or by the way of the green plumber is unclear.

E: then again, this was the next post: https://sfstandard.com/2026/04/12/sam-altman-s-home-targeted-second-attack/

And I hear there were 6 more warehouse fires, but I can't back that up. Media isn't covering it.

For which office? You guys already have elected progressives in some offices

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

The Puritans were elder dipshits.

Sure the founding father's were progressive for their time (minus the misogyny, classism, and slave owning), but the Puritans never went away.

They just became the Know Nothing's, the Confederates, the Dixiecrats, the moral majority, the tea party, and now MAGA.

Once we kill every billionaire, yes. A chance.

Just look at who's been winning all the special elections. The fascists either lock this shit in like Russia in the next 3 years or they're fucked

It would take another age of enlightenment, otherwise people are just too conservative here.

It's gonna take a big crowbar, or some other tool, to oust the billionaires from power.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Yes. If you look at the last couple of elections and when they were born you’ll notice an outlier that got that vote because they promised something different.

It’s doable, but it seems like the current voters like people born at the tail end of WW2.

I'm going with a third option: who the fuck cares?

America appears to be the batshit landscape the rest of the world knew it was but we were always getting drowned out from the noise of your soft power via hollywood and manipulative political/economic orgs. If you're having issues, has it been considered that you might wanna contain that shit instead of plaster it all over the world news? It's exhausting to continually see headlines about what nutty thing that wouldn't occur anywhere else happened today in Jesus land. And then have to suffer through the trivial machinations of moaning and hand wringing so that citizens can relieve themselves of responsibility and go back to their Netflix and video games.

America is cooked all the way through because it fosters a culture that takes away the compact mirror and hands a megaphone to kids when they're born. That's not gonna be cured in one or three or five years via election cycles. You have a terminal infection of culture and the sooner you come to grips with that, the better for everyone.

[–] black_flag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I agree with most of this but I would like to point to "living on stolen land" as the primary source of this "terminal infection", and it's a social phenomenon you can witness not just here but any time that people feel justified in stealing someone else's home throughout history.

[–] Aetherial@nord.pub 1 points 3 days ago

South Africa ranks pretty high on that list but it's already gone through the discernment phase where the collevtive majority went "huh. This isn't quite working out the way we'd planned. Let's try something else". And now the people who don't like the results of "doing something else" are now fleeing to america, because the discernment phase hasn't happened there yet.

dont worry, kamala is running again

This country is actually hopeless at this point.

The Jesuits are actually about to do such, and they'll force America to give herself (and her corporation thereof) to the Jesuit Superior General. America is already used as the intelligence and military (Jesuit mercenary) capital of the world after all.

Unrelated but relevant, London is used as the trade and finance capital of the world, while Vatican City is the political and religious capital of the world. This is where your leaders get marching orders (including going to Occupied Palestine, to kiss and place their hand on the wall of a ruined Roman fort.
